- Wedding: February 2012
…and I’m absolutely fine with it. She isn’t mine either. And neither of us were for another great friend when she married a few years ago. We have been friends since we were 16 and I love her dearly. But for some reason my Mum has completely seen her arse about it.
I was speaking to Mum last night and I said that Fiance and I will be going to the weddiing this April and how I’m so excited about it. Mum then said (not asked!) “So you will be the MOH” and I replied no. And Mother dear got upset and tried to get me to say that I was totally pissed off about it. She wouldn’t accept that I was totally cool with the situation, if not slightly relieved that I won’t have that responsibility. I was totally like “Wha?!?!?” When my mum started saying “Well it’s nice to see what your friend thinks of you!” When I was home at Christmas I met up with my friends and we discussed wedding plans, the subject came up and we both had exactly the same views that we’d only have flowergirls. I mean I live abroad, there’s not much I can do to lighten her workload from here, and vice-versa. On the day obviously they will be very much part of it, but not as Maid/Matron of Honor. She is bringing me a handbag fo the day, as well as a “blue”. My other friend is bringin me a “borrowed”. For her wedding, I am taking her an “old”. We are all happy with the situation and I really cannot see why my Mum has taken this so personally.
That my fellow bees is leaving me totally perplexed!!
