There is no rule that says you have to go try it on today just because it came in…..if you’re nervous, give it some time. I was in the same boat as you, and they completed my alterations only three days before my wedding, no biggie 🙂

If you’re worried, call the store and ask them what kind of a timeline they’d recommend.

@mu_t:  Don’t let them rush you. If you’re not ready then you’re not ready. My dress arrived on 2/14 (very romantic)…I didn’t go see it until 4/27. This is your wedding, your dress, you’ll do this on your own terms.

My dress is at my parents house and I knew I needed to lose some weight to be happy with it, I made the mistake of trying it on again too soon and I found it very discouraging. I’ve sense decided to focus on my diet and working out and not worry about the dress. I’m getting married in February too, WE both have plenty of time! If you’re not ready, don’t go yet.

I got nervous when I went to see my dress because I didn’t lose as much weight as I wanted to. I waited until 6 weeks before (latest appointment I could get) to do the first fitting and lived at the gym until the appointment.

Turned out the dress fit perfectly!  No alterations at all!  I still try it on every now and them just to make sure it still fits, though, haha.

@mu_t:  I had the option of trying mine on when it came in (also SUPER early!). I think they more so want to ensure the order is correct and all that jazz. I tried mine on just to get an idea of the amount of altering they might have to do. I’m sure you’ll look gorgeous! Don’t worry!

It’s ok!  It would be a good idea to at least verify that it’s the correct dress, correct color, size, etc.  And just remember, a lot of people aren’t happy with how the dress looks on the first fitting.  It’s not the first fitting that matters, it’s how the dress fits on the wedding day that you’ll remember!

@mu_t:  my dress came in last month aNd I didnt run to try it on so I dont see what the issue is. You can go in August when you are ready OR later on when you start fittings since your wedding is almost a year from now. I am going in July when I start my fittings and my shop is storing the dress until then.
