The only thing I might add is to ask if you’ve had the dress to a seamstress?  You seem to be dissatisfied with the fit (too long in the torso, I think) and a properly fitting ANYTHING looks way better than something straight off the rack.  The dress is lovely, and honestly, I don’t see that it is at all ill-fitting, but if it isn’t comfortable, you’re not going to be happy.

@CakeyP:  i love your dress i’m also loving the shoes but not with that dress, how about adding coloured shoes maybe red or blue, and if you are feeling adventuress how about switching the petticoat to match the shoes.

No matter what you do with it though when it’s your big day and you’re all dolled up you’ll feel different and i’m sure you will look lovely.

I think the dress is awesome, very cool retro.

You need white/ivory shoes.  You may actually need more poof in the petty, can you try more poof?  It will enhance the retro and make your waist smaller.

Veil, that one doesn’t work.  Look online for 50’s style veils, if you can somehow adapt that to fit the style then go for it, it is nice that it is your Mother’s veil, but it doesn’t work with that dress at all.

I think a little facinator on a wide cap/headband would be to die for, add some wrist length gloves, pearls and a  beaded clutch and it would be darling.

@CakeyP:  Have you considered hemming the dress? I think if you hemmed it a bit it would be more flattering, especially from the side and the back. Not a lot, but maybe 2-3″ off. Another idea- what if you had the seamstress sew a little tulle into the hem, when you get the dress fitted? I was looking at party dresses on Rent the Runway and bookmarked this dress, and it just occurred to me that adding some tulle might give your dress a little extra oomph. You could match the tulle to your veil.

I love your dress, but I do see what you mean about the wrinkling. To be totally honest it looks like the issue is it’s a bit too tight around the waist. If you’ve been losing some weight from stress, that problem may have gone away by now! And I agree with all the comments saying you need a light coloured shoe with it. I think part of the problem is that when a dress hits at that point in the leg, it can have the effect of making your legs look shorter. A higher heel in a light colour should have the effect of elongating your legs and make the whole outfit look more flattering.

I also personally think it would look more flattering with your hair up, since that will also tend to be elongating, but that’s a matter of your personal style!

@Mrs. Wallaby:! I absolutely love your dress on you, but I’m thinking if it was a bit shorter it (above knee) it would look even better!

I also think the last photo (sans petticoat) it looks WAYYYY better!

You definitely have the right dress, just a few things as PP’s have said, could make it even better!

@CakeyP:  I love the original shoes and without the petti, so that is my suggestion. I didn’t like the dress when I looked at it in the first thtee photos but I think that is becuase of the way you are standing. You even look like you hate it in those photos, lol. The second you look so confident and feel good.

@CakeyP:  That dress is SO GORGEOUS!

If I were to ever get married again, I would steal it from your closet and wear it myself!
