@SweetRose2011: Alrighty! Ok I I really like option 2, and I love the three lantern link that has the white laterns. However I have to admit I am privy to the whole candlelight thing, so I think you could combine the idea of having a vase with some flowers with those three lights that I mentioned.

The cost breakdown however would be probably like this

you would spend alot more on the vase (rental or buying) so maybe think about how high you want your centerpiece to be. the smaller, the most cost effective.

Secondly the candlelight effect in those images would look great with the first link, but if you want to get a large lantern, then I think you should have that as a centerpiece alone, with maybe flowers as accents around the lantern

Do you have a colour palette btw?

@SweetRose2011: hmm I like those colours! well the next question is, how crafty are ya?

I think what you could do, is find some really inexpensive metal lanterns, spray paint them the with your metalic wedding choice (silver) or your neutral (which Im guessing is the navy blue?)

I personally think navy blue, with yellow flowers, with some silver accents would be very nice. Carnations (very cost effective, and in large bunches) can be found in gradations of yellow.I think that might look nice surrounding a lantern.

let me see if I can find any cheap large lanterns on the internet for ya; most places may not ship to Canada, but they ship to the US! ๐Ÿ™‚

if you want flowers btw, I know a great internet site that ships to the US and has good deals on wholesale ones

@SweetRose2011:

Save on crafts- my mecca- has this lantern

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/lanterns6.html

now with that you could paint it navy blue, perhaps even decorate it with silver somehow (stencils?)

Then the flower site I mentioned was this one

100 carnations for about 65 dollars

http://www.theflowerexchange.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=845

if your intending on spending about…25 dollars per table (one centerpiece) I think it could work…from my estimate the central parts (the lantern plus the flowers) would be between 155-200, leaving 100 dollars for supplies and shipping

Again that was the first large lantern I could find. There are others at that site you might like more. I would think you could definitely find a better deal on a large lantern like the ones in the photos. Flea market or second hand!

 ETA: I also wanted to include this link sorry!

@SweetRose2011: actually flower supply stores have green foam in circlets (like a donut) I would cut the carnations, soak the foam in water and plant food (and a bit of bleach, its a florist trick to keep them lasting longer if you dont have plant food!) and then fill the entire circlet by poking the carnation heads into it. then, in the middle of the carnation circle, put the lantern. you can also put other cards or whatever into the green foam after you finish the flowers!

@SweetRose2011:

Hi Rose, I was thinking you also said you liked orange roses?  What about doing something like this?

Your venue is perfect, it just needs a little pop of color and light.  It’s easy and cheap-get some bulk orange roses, 1 larger bowl, and several ivy/fish bowls for a buck each at Hobby Lobby, fill with dollartree votives, voila!  ๐Ÿ™‚
