I just wanted to comment that a friend of mine bought the globe lights from target that everyone keeps mentioning.. Make SURE you don’t connect more than it says, because half of hers got blown out for her reception and its hard to figure out which fuse got blown, especially whent he lights are already hung high. If you’re going to DIY, there better be a LOT of outlets and extension cords involved.

I’m planning on attaching two together. You think that’s gonna be ok?

@JennyBryde:  I bought some from Target for our engagement party and would NOT recommend them. They are so fragile and while I was able to carefully set them up, my Fiance took them down and broke half of the bulbs just from dropping them onto the grass. I was not happy about that. So it would be difficult to reuse them or resell them because you have to put every bulb in after the strand is set up & take every bulb out before you take the strand down. While my initial plan was to have them for our outdoor reception, I have since decided to buy normal string lights that have a soft yellow hue (not the blue LED ones). I’m going to drape the string lights in our tent like this:

At first I was going to sell mine after using them but seeing how fragile they are I would just order them online off of Targets website.

Hello brides to be!

My wife and I got married Nov 12, 2011 (in Holland MI) and this weekend my brother and his fiance are getting married in Birmingham, AL.

I’ve been studying this thread learning about outdoor string lighting, as he and his bride to be are being married in a park/town square without a lot of lighting.

It seems like there are some great ideas here for purchasing lights from Target, Big Lots, and sometimes World Market (if they have them in stock) for around $12 a strand at target if you can find them, or $1 foot elsewhere (worldmarket.)

Question about string lights….If I purchase 14, 37.5 foot commercial quality string lights, that are connectable in segments of 4 end-to-end, I am wondering how many folks out here on the board would be interested in renting them after we’re done.  The cost for me to purchase would be around $50 for each 37 foot string, and I am hoping to rent them for around $15 a string to help cover the cost and help other brides and grooms out there to reduce their cost too.

Please reply or send me PM to let me know if you are interested, or if this is a silly idea.  Thanks!

I know this is an older thread, but does anyone have any globe light strings for sale? Looking for at minimum 3 strands of 50′ (or a combo of 6 25′). Thanks! 🙂

Dear String Light Seekers in the Greater Toronto Area.

My wife and I purchased 400 feet of string lights in 2012 and now rent them out to mainly weddings in the GTA, but they’ve also been used in movies, trade shows, and will be in a future spread of Food & Drink.

Please visit our website below for all of our details and how to contact us.

I found a bunch at a garage sale that I was going to use at my at home reception that I’m no longer having!

GeoffandJulie:  I could sell them, they are at my mom’s house in a different state right now.  I could have her look for them if you’re interested in them
