I recently made a post in the Dress thread about my dress journey, but I wanted to pop over to the full-figured board to say thanks, too! (Original lengthy thread here http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/the-saga-of-the-dreaded-dress-with-a-happy-ending#axzz2WPv6u916)
When I realized that I was in bridal gown hot water, I turned to this board to look for some help. Although I didn’t post anything concerning it, I read through many threads and ended up finding my dress on a couple of plus sized brides, and future brides. I also found my bolero here!
I found throughout the planning process, I gained more confidence from looking at all of your photos. We didn’t have engagement photos done because I felt uncomfortable, and hated having my picture taken. Coming here, I didn’t feel “plus-sized”… I just felt, average! I am hoping that by posting a few of my photos here, that maybe I can do the same for someone else. This is a wonderful, supportive, and encouraging place. So often, we as plus sized women have a difficult time feeling “bridal” because of the way weddings are portrated in the media. This board (and forum) is proof that Fiancées, Brides, and Wives come in all shapes and sizes – and we are all beautiful!
Here are some photos from our June 1st, barn wedding! (For reference, I am a street size 18 – with an almost disproportionately large sized chest.)
Above photos are Pro-Teasers from Kristin Gibson Photography.
This is what I like to call a “Newlywed Photo”. Deep down I wish we had gotten engagement photos, specifically one with a giant balloon (I’m not entirely sure why)! So, with my newly found confidance and a trip-pod, we headed to a nearby park before the wedding of a friend, and took one! (I hade some helium left from our “Here Comes the Bride” balloon at our wedding.)

You look beautiful!! I feel the same way. When I first started looking for a dress I was mortified and had a poor body image. It is getting better. I would my dream dress something I did not think was possible. I am trying to lose a bit of weight before my wedding but reading comments here, I am very happy even if my wedding was tomorrow walking down the aisle just the way I am.
Thank you for sharing. And I also would like to thank this FF board and the weddingbee community.

You look beautiful! I love the bolero paired with your dress.
I feel the same way you do. At first I was ashamed of being a plus sized bride, but being on WB, I don’t feel that way anymore. A bride is a bride, regardless if she’s a size 2 or 22. It’s nice to see such beautiful women in all sizes on here.
