Okay ladies, it’s proposal time!
My super amazing best friend and boyfriend wants me to propose, and he wants me to do it sometime this year.
I think that this board is meant for women to talk about their engagement stories and how their FI’s proposed, but I really didn’t know a better place to put this thread…
I’d love to bounce my idea around and get some feedback! I wouldn’t mind if you even asked your SO’s opinion on it as well… Getting an honest male perspective would be lovely (:
Well, we like picnics and parks. We first hung out in a park, first kissed in a park, first said “I love you” in a park. So… Of course I’m going to take him to a park.
I think the one where we first hung out outside of work as friends a couple years ago. I’ll take him late afternoon, so there isn’t a huge amount of people around (I know he has said SEVERAL times that he wants me to propose, but I still don’t want him to feel embarrassed in front of a big group of people).
We’ll have a nice normal picnic and talk about just normal stuff. Then I’m going to give him a bottle of soda (http://www.jonessoda.com/code/standard.php?cook=t ) in his favorite flavor with a photo of me on the front holding a sign saying “Josh… Marry me?” and I’ll act totally nonchalant until he notices.
I’m honestly not sure exactly what I’m going to say to him, or if I should even memorize anything… I feel like it would be more real if I just said whatever comes out, but I also don’t want to look like an ass. Lol.
I got him the ring he wanted, and it should be here by tomorrow or Monday. I’m a little nervous, but mostly excited (: He totally implied that he has a ring too, so I’m not sure how that’ll even play out!

So, since he’s said a few times that he wants you to propose I assume you’ve talked quite a bit about marriage and proposing before. Is there a reason you both discussed why he wants you to do the asking as opposed to him? Just curious since that doesn’t happen often in society. I think the park idea with Jones soda is adorable! Good luck! 🙂

Sounds to me like you have a great plan. I think after he notices the soda can, you should say a few things, then give him the ring. aww i love when girls have the idea to propose! Goodluck =]

This is awesome! I love it! He is definitely a lucky guy. I wouldn’t worry about memorizing something, just say what’s in your heart and that will be perfect.

Awww YEAH…. I proposed back to mine right after he proposed to me!!! here is a quick run down of what happend…
I kinda knew he was going to ask me as he had asked me to help him find a custom jeweler so he could have a necklace made for me! yeah right…lol I found one and later called him up and asked him ‘in theory’ IF he was in fact designing a ring could he design a matching one.. after pushing him he agreed that ‘IF’ he was he would.. anyway I duly received the ring and kept it hidden ready hoping that I may guess when he would propose so I could propose right back to him… when he suggested I fly my mother over for Xmas and then suggested going to Disney I knew that was it!!! I just did not know the day etc or the how… so each day we were there I took the ring with me!!
When he proposed to me in front of the Tree of Life on his birthday…. I left him hanging at the part where he said “will you marry me”… I said in reply… just hold that thought for one moment..Yes he was still on bended knee with his face suddendly hanging!!! and ran over to my bag and pulled out a Winnie the Pooh (he was named after Christopher Robin!) that I had doctered with a voice recording of me using a famous pooh bear quote and then asking him to marry me!!!! and Yes I was on bended knee too…
By The Way he LOVES his ring and is a huge believer in the fact that men should wear them just as much as women..
I think you have a lovely fun way of proposing to him… 🙂

Having a plan is great! I proposed to my Fiance and it was the best decision for us! Best of luck!
