I love your dress but I think you should love it too! It will look totally different once it’s altered and you have accessories.

Sorry you’re not feeling your dress! I feel like so many brides say the same thing though, but then their wedding day comes around and they realize why they loved it so much to begin with.  Personally..I think your dress is very pretty, and once altered will look beautiful on you!

@WedInWI:  Maybe alter the neckline to a sweetheart? And possible add a little crinoline underneath to give the bottom a little more oomph?

I agree that getting it to fit you right will make a WORLD of difference! Don’t fret!

@WedInWI:  what about the dress with the pickups and sash under the bust? I like that one better.

I went through something similar. I lost 10 pounds after I ordered my dress and when it finally came in I was very disapointed. I had hope, I got it altered and then my dress turned out amazing. When something doesn’t fit well you won’t feel your best, once it’s altered I’m sure you will feel better about it. Your dress is very pretty, I would talk to a seamstress and see what she could do. Have a good idea of what you want when you talk to her.  You can change a few things and make it more your own. If you think it’s not worth altering, get a new dress, so your spend a few extra $$$$’s but at least you’ll be happy.

You can definitely make this dress work for you! It’s a very lovely dress, and some alterations should take care of the rest. I found an independent seamstress using yelp.com, and I’m having my dress taken in, bra cups added, straight neckline to sweetheart, and the bustle added for $120. I think I’m getting a super good deal, but you can get a lot of things done for a reasonable price. I think adding a peticoat to fluff out the bottom would look great.

Also, accessories! I was feeling like my dress was too plain, but once I bought my necklace and hair accessories, now I’m worried I’ll be too flashy!

Mine didn’t feel like “my dress” until alterations were done. Your dress is lovely!
