@Mrs. Gremmlin: LOVE IT. Anymore pictures? Very beautiful and classy!

I am 5’2 and 100lbs. I thought I wouldn’t be able to wear a ball gown and figured I would wear a fit and flare or mermaid. Turns out those made me look even smaller and not flattering.

This is my dress…. still trying to figure out the petticoat situation/poofiness factor.

Also,I think that Sottero dress you posted comes in a long version or at least there is something very similar.

I am 5’2 and wore flats on my big day. I wore a ball gown and while I am short, I didn’t think it looked bad :p

@Willow1991: Wow! That’s a beautiful princess gown! I love the detail at the bottom! I do have a few more pictures of mine, but I’ll have a ton after my first (and second) fitting. I can’t wait until she’s actually short enough for me!

I’m around 5’2″ and typically wear at least a 1″ heel… though I LOOOOVE my 2″ and up heels, hehehehehehe.  I also weigh around 105, add in curves in all the right places, and there you go.

I went with a slinky gown with a slit to mid-thigh (ebay, chinese-made gown).  To be perfectly blunt, I’m an elf in the gown.  😀

Here’s two pics of when i was trying on gowns from David’s Bridal.  (I still gotta get better pics of me in my actual wedding gown!!!!)

it was nice and light, but not me…

I LOOOOOVED this one!!!!  But… didn’t get it, lol.

Here’s me in my wedding dress.  I liked it, but wish I would have gotten something that defined my waist better (or lost weight). I’m 5’0″ and am currently 115 lbs (dropping weight before the wedding didn’t happen! boo!)

Beautiful dresses ladies! OP- love that gown you posted!

I too am a shorty (barely 5’1″) and worried about looking too short in a wedding gown. This is the dress I ended up with (I posted my dress in the other “petite” thread) and I’m really hoping it’ll look ok when it comes in in my size and has to be majorly hemmed! 🙂

I am 5’0 and I wore a ballgown and it didn’t swallow me up one bit. I love my dress and would wear it agin in a heartbeat. I am not wearing shoes in these pictures because my feet were killing me from the wedding the day before. I did wear 4″ heels on the wedding day because I loved the look of them. I say, go for a long dress if you want it!

I’m 4’11 I’ll post a few that I tried on in different styles and then the one I ended up getting. I don’t have any pics of short dresses but my friend is on this site who I believe has one I’ll send her this way.

Im 4’9″ and my consultant told me to stay away from anything poofy or with horizontal lines across bc they will make you appear shorter and cut you off.  Here’s my dress:

I am 5″2, and I went for a ballgown style dress, even though most magazines say that this style “swallows up” petite brides.  However, I love my dress and don’t think it swallows me up at all.

I would advise trying on all different types of dress to find the style that you like, and not feel restricted by the “rules”.

I love sheaths (not mermaids or superslinks) and ballgowns on smaller gals.  You look elegant and/or refined in them.

OP:  Is that maggie tea length gonna be full length on you?  I love that dress!

I’m 5’1, about 130lbs, have an hourglass shape. I was worried about my height when I tried on dresses too. I knew what I wanted, but I tried on everything just to see. A ballgown pretty much swallowed me whole, ruffles made me look like a little girl, and mermaid dresses didn’t fit my proportions. I knew I wanted to show some leg and I found two dresses (one white and one red) that had slits! I went with the red one.

I think petite brides should try on everything, even if you think you hate it! You never know what could look right on your body until you try. And do your research – look at some dresses you already own and see what flatters you the most. Is it an empire waist on your favorite summer dress? Do one-shoulder dresses flatter your shoulders? Just take inventory of the shapes that make you feel good and go from there. I love short dresses and I love showing my legs, so I went with that.
