Yayyy!!!! That’s so exciting! I’m an encore fiancee and last time I did it, it was about 15 dresses….then my bridal consultant brought in "the dress" and I knew before I even walked out of the dressing room.
Whether you try on 5 or 50 dresses, you’ll know when you find "the One", it’s so different for all of us, some girls pick the first dress because it feels right to them, others try on 100 dresses, just have fun, try on dresses you wouldn’t ever have picked, you’ll be surprised. And HAVE FUN!!!!

I tried on three or four, but it was the first on I tried on that I went with.  I had seen it in a magzine before the proposal, and even then I was pretty sure it was the one.  I tried it on first, and was still pretty sure.  I tried on a couple others, because I was in a bridal shop, and I wanted to be more sure than "pretty sure."  The others were all nice too, but none seemed as "right" for me.

Have fun!  I would avoid David’s Bridal unless you absolutely cannot find anything in your price range elsewhere.  Too many horror stories.  Lots of designers and stores out there have just as reasonably-priced dresses and a lot better customer service. I agree, neutral undies AND bring your own strapless bra…you don’t want to have to borrow a used one.  Ew!  LOL.

I wouldn’t just buy the dress on the first day.  Look around and try on a few. I know that sales people will try to encourage you to buy right away, but give it some time.  It took me a while before I found mine.

i walked into one bridal shop, looked a dress on the rack, felt totally overwhelmed like "i cant do this" and walked out before the lady even got to speak to me – havent stepped foot in another shop since and June 23rd is just weeks away

im so totally in denial – note to self, must find something to wear!

goodluck and i hope you enjoy!

I went to a bridal boutique with my mom last November just to look. I definitely had no intention of actually buying my dress when I walked in!!  I picked out about 5 dresses and then the attendant grabbed a dress and said I should try that one on too. Dress #1 was very beautiful, but it felt like nothing more than a white dress.  Dress # 2 (the one she recommended) was a completely different story.  As she was zipping me up and I turned to the mirror to see myself in it, the tears started coming.  I was in love!!  And after she told me the price–I was head over heels! Despite my mom probably thinking I was nuts, I ordered the dress that day. It’s an original design so it took several months for it to be sent to the store. I go for my first fitting at the end of the month!!  So much fun!

I had scheduled a couple of fittings in one day.  The first was at a small bridal boutique and the second at David’s Bridal.  I walked into the bridal boutique and thought to myself that these dresses are probably going to cost more than what I had planned on spending, but thought I could at least try some on to get an idea of what I liked.  Needless to say it was the 3rd dress I tried on!!  Tried on about 5 more there and still didn’t like them as well as the 3rd dress.  Went to appt. at DB and tried on about 10 more and then went to another place and tried on about 5 more, then ended up going back to the first store and ordering the dress!!!  Still waiting for it to come in for my first fitting, can’t wait!!

omg have so much fun! it tried on probably a total of 20, but after i tried on THE dress i was totally not interested in dress hunting anymore. that’s how i knew it was it. but definitely enjoy the process! so much fun!

and i’m with happilywaiting on the neutral undies–but also something you are not embarrassed to be seen in. my helper at the dress shop had me strip down to nothing but the undies and put dress after dress on—i was pretty glad i hadn’t worn a thong.

I got the first one I tried on but actually waited a little while before I bought it so I could try on other dresses to make sure (actually, this was more for my mom and sister. They just wanted to shop more! haha!). It was fun shopping and trying on a bunch of dresses. Enjoy the process and try on a bunch!
