Getting job leads… only for them to not go through! UGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I also am tired of talking to people (that aren’t entry level but pretty damn high up in the company) that either know my Dad or know other people I went to school with, for them to tell me that HECK YES we would love to hire you.. only for them to not even get me an interview with the company. Most of them have even sent in extra letters of reccomendation… I had one company that kept pushing off site visits (I interviewed with them and they said OMG we love you, we want to fly you out to our headquarters so we can get you hired) only to completely stop talking to me 🙁 WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!

@Woodstock: So most are just networking but not leading to an interview? Are you following up with them? Maybe they want you there but then find out they are not hiring and only putting their foot in their mouth.
I know the feeling. I just had a really good lead and haven’t heard anything so I can only imagine having that happen over and over again.

@Woodstock: I don’t know, but you’re not the only one who is frustrated. My last interview (which went amazingly) led to me being sent an email a month later offering me an unpaid internship instead. I hate to say this, because I hate hearing it, but I think you have to just keep applying and tell yourself that the reason you haven’t gotten a job yet is because the right one is still out there and you just have to apply for it.

@LD333: I’m definitely following up and not only networking but also putting my resume out to online job opening applications(90% of the companies I’m looking at don’t want you to contact them any other way) Some of the online apps I even have a contact in the company..
@asscherlover: I would SO take an unpaid internship (FI makes enough money for us both.. not ideal but it’s working so far). But thanks.. that’s what I keep telling myself.. The perfect job is still waiting for me.
The problem is lack of experience… even though all the jobs I’m applying to are entry level with internships preffered (got plenty of those during college). Another big problem is I was working in the Navy (defense budget) and now most of the jobs that I’d be good for are… the defense contracting industry…. So not only did the defense budget cut cause me to lose my job.. but its preventing me from getting a job 🙁
