I nearly bought a letterpress machine today and all its goodness, it was 20% off and this store in my city hardley IF EVER have sales, and there the only stockists… The shop was having a one day only at 20% off
. So ive just spotted it on my lunch break.. sat and stared at it for a good 20 minutes nearly walked up to the checkout with it and walked back…. stared at it some more.. (dreamt a little more of all the great things I could make)… gotten back to work.. still thinking about it, and I have until 9pm tonight to make my decision because thats when the shop shuts. 🙁
*sigh* I really want it, it would be so handy, and I would use it in the future. Just wether to buy it now… or wait..and wait some more till after the wedding. It seems like a one time only sale.
But then again… its just under $150.00 with the sale and 150, dollars is a bit of money.. I dont want to talk to my FH because if i tell him the price, he would say no.
How would you make the decision? flip a coin? I never even was this torn, when i bought my dress 🙁

Well it sounds like you really really want it….but remember that nothing is ever a “one time only” kinda thing. If they have a sale now, chances are they will again. Maybe not tomorrow or next week, but at some point, there will be another sale. Plus, there is always the 24/hr availabilty of the internet and its endless “sales”. $150 is a lot of money, but will it put you in the poor house permanently? Probably not. Will your FH get over it once he learns you splurged on something that he probably sees as a one time use thing? In time. We all have our moments and our weaknesses, so if this is yours, you can at least use that excuse until he calms down and learns to accept it. 🙂
Good luck, whatever you decide.

Well in the grand scheme of things $150 isn’t that much. If you really know that you will use it then it is worth it to buy it while it’s on sale.
Think of what you will use it for? Make B-day cards, invites, programs?
Then think of how much you’d spend on b-day cards in a year, two years? If you could use it consistently then it might be better to get and save in the future. How much would you save if you used for invites and programs?
Last idea: buy it now and return it if you change your mind…but at least this way you take advantage of the 20% off.

True about the online, I just hate giving details over the internet. In the nearly 4 years that I have been back in this city, i have never seen this store offer more than 10% discount.
Im researching online and trying to be rational here. I even sent a text to my FH about my maybe purchase he is going to come see it with me tonight. He said it sounds great, but he would like to see it and it would be my birthday present that is really in july. I am hoping he will say yes.
I was just torn wether to spend the money on this or just leave it be, I survived without it for this long.. so I can probably wait.. but we cant always get what we want.
Just hanging out till hometime now for him to come with me. This kinda stuff just makes me weak at the knees, I love letterpress and the thought of doing it for my very own is exciting. (I just love my paper products at the moment, not the scrapbooking stuff. I have been asked to desgn wedding invites for 3 of my other friends and I just think this could make it a little more special, I think thats why im seriously considering it would be worthwhile thing.)

Wow! Sounds like you really want it.
Here’s some questions to help you think through your decision.
What else could you spend your money on?
What would you do if you didn’t buy it?
Would you be able to resell if you later changed your mind and had buyer’s remorse?
Consider FI’s input.
