Well, two years ago for my birthday, my boyfriend gave me a nice Kershaw pocket knife. I lost it when I moved, and I was so upset! Well, he started working at Sportsman’s Warehouse and told me to go pick out a new one. He visited me at work today and gave it to me, and I was so excited to have my knife again.
Well, I got home from work and it’s NOT in my pocket anymore. I don’t see it anywhere. I checked my car. I even went back to work and walked around the building at midnight in the pouring rain trying to find it. Nada. I’m so so so upset, and I feel so guilty. I haven’t even had it for 5 hours and I already can’t find it:(
I’ll probably just end up buying a new one and pretending I never lost it but I don’t want to lie to him:( but I also don’t want him to know I ALREADY lost his gift! Ugh! I’m so aggravated!
Should I just go ahead and buy a new one, and sell it if I find the original? I just don’t want him to know because I’m just embarrassed..

🙁 I’m sorry you lost your gift! That’s such a sucky feeling, I’m sure we’ve all been there before. I know you are embarrassed, but I’d tell him. I’d just feel bad anytime he mentions it and you have that half-second twinge where you know it’s not the knife. Maybe ask him to go with you when you buy your new knife, and then go engrave your name and # on it 😉 I really, really hope it turns up for you, though!

i’d totally go buy a new one. he doesnt need to know.

I’d totally just buy one without telling him. I’ve done that with a present, I lost it in a very stupid manner so I just wnt and bought an identical.

Oh no! Sorry, I don’t know what I’d do in your shoes. Though I’m a bad liar, so I’d probably end up telling my SO. * hugs *

Okayyyy. I sucked it up and ordered one, and if I find it within the next 30 days I can return it. If I find it after that, well, I can just sell it. I’m still going to call my boss tomorrow and see if he’ll check the store for me, since it’s closed tomorrow.. and in the meantime enlist friends to help me search my car more!
I just know that there’s a lot of questionable people that hang around the restaurant, and it’s a REALLY nice knife. If any of them found it, they’re keeping it.
In the meantime, I’ll wear skirts around him because 1. it’s a nice distraction and 2. I wouldn’t wear my knife with a skirt most of the time, anyway! I just hope he doesn’t straight up ask about it because I am a terrible liar!
Thanks, guys. I just needed other points of view on this. I feel a tad better having a backup if I don’t find it!

oo that’s a bit difficult if you have to wait 30 days and what if he gets to the package first? Hmm I thought you could just go to the store and pick one up. Good luck!

Not really related, but I’m impressed you carry a knife around. You’re a badass!

@Atalanta: Thankfully, I don’t live with him yet. I never thought I’d be so happy for that 😉 But if I get it on Amazon, it’s $45 no tax.. if I were to go to Cabelas or Sportsmans, it’d be about $70-$80 plus tax!

@Gingersnap: Bahaha. I love it. It’s because he wants to be a cop, he has me carrying a knife and I now know how to shoot a gun! I actually have a pistol in my bedside table at his urging.
I think it’s more for the badass factor than the protection factor TBH. 😉

I got Mr. CP one of those years ago. We’ve been through two of them since then and have nooooo idea where they went. Don’t worry, it happens!
