try using probiotics while on antibiotics and for a week or two after! It helps to establish the good bacteria which makes it harder for the bad bacteria to populate!

Sorry you’re not feeling well 🙁 Please don’t stress about what you were reading. There are tons of factors that could be contributing to their chronic infectious such as diabetes or other comorbidities, poor diet, sometimes men can harbor the infection and pass it back, etc. Is your doctor aware of your concerns? Have they mentioned what the next course of treatment will be if this doesnt work?

I feel your pain, I’ve had 2 yeast infections this year, I tend to always get them when i am taking anti biotics! Something new I’ve discovered which you might want to try is coconout oil! I’ve done alot of research and also really liked the results, coconout oil is very good at killing yeast, you might want to try taking it regularly, up to 3 spoons a day, it is natural so it won’t hurt in any event and hopefully it will help!

SammiCoJo:  I used to get them all the time too. First of all, this one will go away, I promise, you just likley need some stronger medications. Keep that area as dry as is humanly possible, I have found that the wipes (while painful at first) help (I know others disagree). The creams for me, make things worse. Two other things if you get them reguarly, one, try taking some apple cider vinegar in the morning. Just a few spoonfulls in a glass of water. It sounds counter-intuitive but it helps balance Ph levels. The second, be really mindful of your diet and alcohol. I’ve pretty much cut out alcohol other than the one off night out and I hardly ever get them anymore. Also (and this is a given) limit your carbs as much as possible, especially right now while you have one. Eat yogurt and really cut out any breads and beer if you drink it. Not the most fun but I have noticed a big difference. Best of luck to you!!

SammiCoJo:  I’m glad I could help! I know moisture is the worst when it comes to these things. Apple cider vinegar is pretty amazing (but tastes terrible haha). 🙂

I’ve lifegaurded for years & worked in pools for hours at a time. I’d  guess its mostly individual, but when your sitting on the stand don’t hop in the pool to cool down before/after unless your changing out of your suit or drying off really really well after. Head to the bathroom with some wipes after you get off the stand if you’ve been sweating at all. Also, phew I won’t go into it unless you want me to, but stay FAR AWAY from hot tubs. The amount of bacteria and germs in those things…..it’s not pretty. Not to mention with the heat they get up to, they burn off the bromine or chlorine (hopefully they used bromine) quickly and are extremely hard to keep sanitary unless they are being emptied just about every week for a deep clean (which the large majority are not).

SammiCoJo:  I am one of those women. I suffer from chronic yi.  I CAN get rid of them but not from drugs.  Drugs make it worse. I have actually been to see a natropath and I am currently on a cleanse.  I have to do the cleanse that my natropath put me on for for 1-2 months and I can’t have any sugar, yeast, dairy, alchohol of any kind, etc etc (they also gave me special drops called candida albicans). I get them when I get sick and have to go on antibiotics.  This new natropath doctor that I am seeing told me that next time I get sick and think I need antibiotics, come see her first.  Most things can be cured naturally but if I ever have to go on them again, it will come back and I have to do this starvation cleanse.  I hate it.  I have two more weeks of this cleanse, just in time for summer on the deck!  I advise that you see a natropath.

I get them often and I slather on plain Greek yogurt which is very soothing, sometimes I splash apple cider vinegar directly on too while in the shower. Sounds so odd but it works wonders.

I had one really bad in college. It took 2 rounds of antibiotics over almost 2 months but it did go away completely.. talk to your doctor and stay off WebMD!

I find that sleeping without bottoms helps them to go away more quickly! Otherwise I think everything that can be covered already has been.

You probably aren’t having sex if it’s painful and itchy, but do keep in mind you can give it to your guy if you do, and then you can keep passing it back and forth. So it’s better to abstain until you get rid of it.

Have you looked at your diet at all? I am more prone to YIs when I eat too much sugar/bread etc, it feeds the yeast, so trying to eat less sugary foods and also eating more plain yogurt is good to bump up your good bacteria. You can also take a probiotic pill if you don’t like yogurt or want to add even more probiotics to your diet.
