Hey there…I’m really sorry to hear that. My grandmother died a few weeks before my wedding too, then a whole lot of extremely unpleasant family drama followed it.  I can say this–the happy occassion the wedding helped a lot, and everyone kept saying they were happy to have a chance to celebrate and remember that there are still a lot of wonderful things in life.

It happened to me too! They had the funeral at 10am the day after my wedding. It was as much fun as it sounds. Ugh.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost both of my grannies within the last year and a half, and I know I’m going to miss them like crazy on the day we get married. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to have the loss be so fresh.

It will be a bittersweet note for sure, but it’s also nice in a way that your family will be able to come together for a joyful occasion, and console yourselves with the thought that your grandmother would have wanted you to have a wonderful celebration. Best wishes to you.

I’m sorry for your loss…it happened to me too just before my first wedding. My beautiful grandmother passed the day before my hen party. I can’t remember my hen at all I was too much in shock.

My grandmother died the day of our engagement party. All she wanted was to see me get married 🙁 I am also afraid that my MOH’s grandfather will pass away on the day of the wedding…he’s 97 and not in good health so that would be really awful as well as her and her mom will be at my wedding 🙁

O no, that’s terrible. I’m so sorry. I’ve always wondered what I would do/how to deal in the event something terrible like that happened.

@WillyNilly:  Cry My prayers and hugs go out to you. My grandmother passed away back in February. It was so tough, she seemed so excited about my Fiance (who at the time was just my BF) and liked the fact that he had a german name. She died a few weeks before my Fiance proposed and luckily I got to visit her in the hospital before she passed. I’m sad she can’t be there but I know she’ll be there in spirit!
