I just discovered that our original honeymoon plan to fly to Belize is about the same as flying to Paris, France!! We went to Rivera Maya, Mexico on our familymoon right after the wedding and was planning Belize in November for our honeymoon but when I found out it would cost the same to go to France I am now thinking France!!
Any tips for those of you that have been to France? And does $700 on a flight from Chicago to France seem reasonable or should we keep looking?

The Hotel Tronchet was fabulously located, lovely and reasonably priced when we were there a couple of months ago 🙂

I love paris! My FI proposed to me in paris 🙂 we spent a week and a half there during our tour of europe. your flight price seems very reasonable. Paris is amazing, the food, the wine and there are a million things to do. That being said Paris is VERY expensive. It will cost much more to stay in Paris for a week than it would to stay in belize

@Mrs.babycat: What a great engagement story! So far the hotels I am looking at are far less than the all-inclusives I was looking at in Belize!
From another Bee’s post I we could also possibly jump on the Eurostar to London for $120 a ticket. Maybe a quick night or two away there. How fun is that?

That flight is fair. We found $500 from NC so you’re a bit more inland.
Definitely Paris over Belize!!!

@baletrina: we did london and paris in 2010. it was fun. we did the eurostar from london to paris. check online b/c sometimes they have deals. we upgrade to first class for next to nothing. we flew into london and flew out of paris. i think it was around $700-800 return so your price is good.
i like to be organized so i booked everything in advance. hotels, train, shuttles to and from airport and train stations. pm me if you need any info of services that i used.

@axeyourmakeupkit: Yay!! I am getting excited about this. Being in Chicago our first inkling is to always go tropical but who can say no to Paris?!
@mypinkshoes: I will have to keep checking. I am totally the same as you. I love me some Excel and even started a “Paris” spreadsheet tonight. All the info about the trip will be on there.
@Mrs.babycat: Two birds. One stone. Paris and London. I love it.
And thanks Bees for letting me know your flight pricing. So far it looks like its a good buy at this price. I will a little longer and plan to book on Tuesday this week or next if I have to convince DH a little more. 🙂

I have been to Paris twice, once in the summer and once in the winter. 🙂 I didn’t do much planning or hotel hopping, because we were staying with relatives, and my mom knows the city so she was our “tour guide,” but if you woud like some suggestions on things to do, i may be of some help! I’ll list some things that aren’t the typical things you’d think of:
– Berthillon ice cream on l’isle st. louis! best in the world, they say.
– Au Pie du Cochon for dinner… order whatever you like, it’s all good!
– Buy some art at Place du Tertre
– Visit the antique marketplaces, les marches aux puces de paris
– Visit outside the arrondisements for beautiful medieval churches
– Chartres cathedral was my favorite! It was magnificent and the surrounding town was absolutely picturesque.
I really hope you go!!

@toasty: Love love love. Thank you! Nothing makes a trip like some insider information. Thank you!

My two tips:
- Paris is a great city for walking, easy to navigate and wonderful to get lost in
- Take the stairs when you go to the Eiffel Tower, waaaay quicker than waiting in the queue for the lift and a pretty cool and not unmanageable climb.
So jealous of you right now!

While I would always pick Paris your costs in Paris will be much higher.
The hotel may be the same, but you stll have to pay food, transportation etc.
But Paris for sure.

i have been to belize and paris and most definitely PARIS! It will cost more with food and what not but it will be so worth it. Make sure to eat at Angelinas on rue de rivoli!
