I wouldn’t get personally involved, tip of your local authorities and the warden as to the conditions you described. They will check it out, and if she hasn’t provided them with a comfortable enough environment (and I don’t think she has at all!) they will issue a warning and keep an eye out for the dogs welfare in the future.

Do not suffer in silence, if you personally tell her it will only carry on. Get the proper people involved and it will be best for the dog 🙂

Turn her butt in!  If she doesn’t want to adequately provide for those dogs, she shouldn’t have them.

If she’s a family friend you should speak up you already have an established relationship.

I think you should skip any pleasantries and go straight to calling the authorities.  Look at that backyard…even if those poor sweet dogs HAD a doghouse/dogloo, they would still live in a mud pit.  They deserve better.  I hate this so much, those dogs should be taken to a better home, skipping right past any warnings or evaluations.  They deserve better!!

I would call a dog rescue group/ game warden asap, especially if you want to maintain a good relationship with your friend.  Those dogs definitely need help!

That is animal cruelty. Go straight to the authorities and report it.

Even with a dog house, those poor animals are living in a sty.

Dogs are pack animals that live in dens.  It looks like they are being treated worse than livestock in those pictures.

I’d turn her in before the car got cold.

Please call someone. And if that person doesn’t help keep calling people. Can you maybe look for some dog houses? Ask around, look on Craigslist, fb etc. People are often giving them away for free. Maybe a mastiff rescue would get involved. Even if they can’t take them away maybe they will just educate them–although I have a hard time believing anyone could think those living arrangements are OK–so I doubt education is the problem. Thank you so much for caring. Please keep us updated.

Oh boy……this is a horrible situation for you to be in and the dogs….

If you call the game warden , will the dogs be taken to a kill shelter or they will just issue the family a ‘citation’ and let them live as they wish?

I’d pretty much just want to kidnap both the dogs and use them as pig cuddle pillows on my bed!
