It definitely depends on the couple themselves/the venue though. There’s plenty of venues to choose from that would use real silverware, plates, etc so it can be classier (Vanessa Williams actually got married at the Statler in Buffalo this summer, she definitely had real plates/glasses) but if it’s a more casual venue I can see disposable stuff being acceptable.
I haven’t gone to a lot of weddings around here as a guest but I have worked quite a few as a photobooth attendant so I’ve seen a huge spectrum. The one thing I’ve very rarely seen is assigned seating. Obviously people here love their photobooths, they also love candy buffets, and I’ve seen quite a few alternative guest books (framed pictures, using the photobooth strips as a scrapbook, etc). Oh, and if it’s a true Buffalo wedding then the Bills “Shout” song will probably be played!
I’m going to a wedding in Brooklyn this month so I’ve been excited to compare it to all the weddings I’ve seen around here. It’s also a Chinese wedding though so that might make it more different than the regional differences would have.
