    I would tell her that you have found the dress you think you would like to buy and see if she has any interest in going with. If she does then I would wait. She may come around and then you would feel bad that you missed out on buying it with her.

    I would still ask if her she wants to come and stress to her (only if you really want her too) that you would like for her to come because its a HUGE thing in the wedding process.

    I think communication is key in any relationship, including the one with your mother.  Why not talk to your mother about it?  I would extend an invitation for her to come with you to pick up the dress (give her a specific day and time), telling her how you feel about her involvement in this process, and let her make the final decision.  You can’t control her actions or reactions, but you can control yours.  Try to communicate with her before making a decision to exclude her, that kind of decision may only lead to more conflict and drama, which isn’t what anyone wants!
