tbenjamin4884 : redearthlady : EmeleeRose : Thank you ladies! I’m 100% convinced that I love the spacer! I’m going to take the back seat for a while and decide on what I want to do with the wedding band. I’ll be enjoying looking at your gorgeous bling in the meantime!
blushbliss : I don’t have the wedding band yet but it will look very si,liar to yours but in yellow gold. Just trying to get past getting my upgrade going first! But I bought a cz that’s a 1.75 to see the difference and I think I like it hence going down the same path as you! The left is the org 1ct and the right is the 1.75 cz just for size reference.
Did you notice a significant finger coverage with your upgrade? Did it lose some sparkle effect too? Just want to make sure this is going to be what I’m hoping for and worth all of the extra $$$
isabee : well mine wasn’t a direct comparable in that I went down with some specs and up with others. My 1 ct was only a very good cut and had some variations in symmetry, while my 1.7 ct is a triple X and scored well at 1.6 on the HCA. It is cut a little deeper, but has good angles and a very interesting small table. I love the new diamond and its definitely more sparkley than the very good cut. I went down from an I to a K and the colour difference is negligible. My wedding band has I colour diamonds so the K blends well. There is definitely a size difference in terms of finger coverage however I wish it was more lol. I think if I got to see the 1 ct side by side w the 1.7 I’d be happy with the jump but because I’m going off memory it doesn’t seem as huge a difference. That being said I have a few rings and some of the others have huge blingy spreads so perhaps in comparison it seems smaller than I expected. All said and done, I’m very happy with the upgrade and think its a very classy and elegant size. It has a lot of presence without looking too ostentatious.
ETA – for reference, my wedding band is 1 ctw (a little more than half eternity) and is 3.4 mm wide.
blushbliss : thanks for all of the info. I wish I could just follow your steps since your results are stunning!
I am trying to also determine if 1.7 will be larger enough or just go up to a 2 and lose some quality. Such a fine balance of not being Too or the norm and too gaudy looking. If the 1 ct to 1.7 isn’t enough noticeable I rather wait even more and save for something that is more noticeable to myself. I don’t want to keep upgrading for while once this is figured out. Like you, I wouldn’t say no to an upgrade in my life but this needs to be my ring for at least the next ten years.
Thanks again for sharing all of that info. It will help me get this all figured out and be happy with it when I’m at the jewelers!
