I don’t know, it just depends. For example, our location quoted us about 11K for everything, including ceremony, food, DJ, etc. We’re having ceremony/reception at the same place. Basically not flowers or booze or anything we wear or carry or have on our tables. But you know, china, etc.

It only breaks down to about $70 a head. They charge us about $30 per plate, but their 5K "venue charge" is how I figure it’s about $70.

What does the venue include? is it just food? is it nice enough that you don’t need decorations? You know, that kind of stuff. Sometimes, no matter how much you love it, you just can’t justify the cost though. Lots of time people trade their dream venue for 100 guests for a less dreamy but still good venue for 150 of their guests. How many people are you looking at?

My Fi and I hashed out an approximate guest list idea for numbers…lots of venues only hold X amount of people. We were able to cross a lot of places off our list asap

Actually $130 per head in northern NJ is very reasonable.

I don’t have any experience with your venue but I think you can definitely negotiate. Ask them to cut the cocktail hour food a little (remove a station perhaps?) or if possible, offer to pay them in cash.  In this recession, everything is negotiable. In my experience most places in NJ expect you to negotiate so don’t be afraid to ask.

Definitely check the NJ Knot board. I’m sure some girls on there are getting married at The Imperia.

My sister got married on a Sunday last November at the Imperia and it was $115 pp I believe.  They had the largest cocktail hour I’ve seen in a while.  It was fantastic.

I went to a wedding there not to long ago.  Beautiful place and a ridiculous amount of food.  You can see the food in these pictures

i read somewhere (maybe on brides.com?) that workers stole things from the bridal suite and from card boxes.  hopefully they’ve resolved the situation by now.

I’m also interested in having my wedding at the Imperia.  I don’t know what time of year you are having yours, but my price for a Friday in July is $115.  I was also hoping that I could get the price down though.  Honestly, I think that price you can get down to all depends on the venue.  I am also interested in the Heldrich in New Brunswick and I got them down from $129 to $100.

it really depends on the time of year but yes, you should negotiate anyway to get the price down.

btw, it truly is a beautiful venue. GL!
