I’ve had it for 2 years now and I had no side effects at all.  I did go from Depo directly to the Implanon and they have basically the same listed side effects, but I didnt have any problems when I first went on the Depo anyhow.

I love it and would recommend it to anyone!

I voted weight gain but that may have been related to my PCOS as I explain here:

A good side effect: I also did not get a period for the three years I had it in – everything I have heard about it though is that if you don’t get your period whilst on it everything goes back to normal after it comes out. Mine have since returned despite my PCOS.

Hi there – I think I can offer advice on this!

I’ve been using Implanon for just over 5 years now (1st one for the full 3 years, now on 2nd for over 2 and a half years)

I can safely say I wouldn’t be using this if I didnt like it, the only downside I am currently experiencing is irregular periods, which after the 2.5 year mark happens as the implant is running out of juice so to speak. To combat this I am on a 3 month course of the standard ‘pill’ alongside the Implanon just to work out regular periods until I can get another one put in.

I say pfft to the weight gain and acne, I had mine put in when I was 17, I am now 23 and I havent gone up a dress size since, and I think my teenage acne actually resolved itself after having it put in. I only get the casual ‘time of the month’ spot.

Must add though that all women are different and will experience it differently, my friend couldnt get on with it and had hers removed after 3 months, that was down to the no periods thing, but personally I don’t think she gave it enough chance to sort itself out.

I still get periods I might add, which is kind of a relief to me (I know mad arent I), just feels like my body is having it’s monthly hormone clearout!

i love it! been on if for six weeks and just had my first ‘period’ – which lasted 3 days, was so light i didn’t need tampons or even pantyliners.  absolutely no side effects or anything so far, i’d highly recommend. and i had REALLY bad periods before this, it is fabulous!

I love it because I always know where its at, I can feel it and dont have to think about it. Its also a very effective birth control. I dont know about weight gain, but I got it right after my son was born, and have had some issues losing weight.. But I have been more successful recently!! I just lost about a pant size yay!! I do however spot quite often. Its never really heavy, but it is annoying. Thats honestly the only complaint I have about it, and it has been getting better as time goes on the longer I have had it.
