well im not an expert, but im gonna be honest from my experience on the WB here… implantation bleeding from my understanding is typically brown.. however I did not even notice any for myself.

bright red blood is more of a concern in large amounts.. if you are spotting a ton and starting to fill a panty liner.. that’s concerning.

on a side note, a lot of women have bright red spotting throughout their pregnancy.

If you’re having bad cramps with the spotting, I’d definitely call your Dr… or if it comes a lot like filling a panty liner.

Do you have an OB yet? You could call and also get their recommendation.. but I think that’s pretty standard that if their are super painful cramps with the bright blood, or if its a large amount filling a liner, then those are more alarming.

Well I had a period after I conceived…at least I thought it was my period at the time. I think it’s possible it was implantation bleeding. It seemed like a normal period to me (mix of brown/red blood). For reference, my periods had been pretty light due to BCP before this, so that is my only frame of reference. But I didn’t notice any difference.  They worked back to my conception date at the doctors (based off the u/s) and my bleeding would have been about 9 DPO, so perfect time for implantation (which happened to be around the same time my period was due). Either way, it caused no problems with me and I didn’t have any other bleeding after that. However, I didn’t take a pregnancy test or find out I was pregnant until much later due to that.

One of my friends is about 20 weeks and she had a decent amount of spotting early on in the first trimester (both old, brownish blood and new, bright red blood) and everything is fine. I think as long as you are just spotting without a lot of pain it is ok.

I’m not really sure on this, but I would think you wouldn’t have implantation bleeding (now) if you already have a positive pregnancy test…at least not new blood (it’s been implanted long enough for you to test positive after all). Maybe older, brownish blood that is only now making its way down. Implantation happens 6-12 days after ovulation.

Esay thing to do is call your doctor!

Spotting is very common early pregnancy, hopefully it is baby nesting in there deeply. Keep an eye on it, trust your instincts. If you don’t have any pain and it doesn’t get heavier you are probably fine.

@pittgirl4:  Implantation bleeding can be both brown and red.  I’ve seen it all here on WB.  In particular, cowgirlace stands out in my mind because she bled for many days after finding out she was pg, and she just delivered a healthy baby boy. Congrats on the positive test and I’ll be hoping that the baby is just nestling in deep!!

@pittgirl4:  I think unless you are experiencing heavy cramping and lot of bright red blood, it is probably just your baby getting all settled in. I would just keep an eye on it as implantation is typically not bright red, but it doesn’t strike me as a concern right now since you have no cramping and it isn’t heavier.

watch it – if it continues/gets heavier get checked out

even if you don’t have pain just take it easy if you can

its probably just implantation bleeding, the timing is right for it

I bled bright red like a light period for several hours within a day or two of getting my BFP. I was totally freaked out, but everything was just fine and I’m now almost 31 weeks. Once you start doing some research and talking to women who have been pregnant, you realize just how common a little bleeding is during pregnancy, and it often doesn’t mean something’s wrong. Hang in there, you’re probably okay!

When I had my miscarriage last time, my bleeding picked up fairly quickly into a heavy period.  The spotting didn’t last long- it was full force bleeding.  I think just a spot or two is normal and not something to worry about.

FX- keep us posted. ๐Ÿ™‚
