Well everyone here keeps calling it lockdown, but it’s not.  Regardless, besides a couple walks and one trip to the grocery store, I haven’t left my property in almost 2 weeks.  So it’s almost like I have locked myself down.

sharpshooter :  happy birthday! It was my birthday yesterday and it was weird. We tried to make the most of it and then my Mum got taken to hospital in an ambulance and my Dad wasn’t allowed to go with her. We also had to celebrate our first wedding anniversary on Sunday in isolation. Just going to look forward to next year!

sharpshooter :  I think it’s just because that’s what some of our governments have called it. I even get ‘Lockdown Update’ emails from the government.

missviolet92 :  Our takeaways are still allowed to deliver. Not everyone agrees with it.

It feels like the strangest social experiment ever.

My state the governor said he doesn’t want to issue a lockdown or shelter in place because he’s afraid to cripple the economy and put strict regulations in place that prevent sustainable efforts…. so instead counties are locking down one at a time. It’s ridiculous. My husband and I both work in a different county than we live in, and they’re trying to restrict movement across county lines, when no one really knows the county lines anyway. We both work essential jobs, he was given his paperwork to certify his need to travel to work today in case one of our counties locks down.

What’s been declared “essential” though is a joke. Recreational dispensaries, liquor stores (yes I agree with making sure alcoholics don’t flood emergency rooms with withdrawal, but you can buy beer in a grocery store), and basically anything else that can weasel an explanation out OR prove their employees can stay 6′ apart from each other. It’s all been vague and very loose. I wish we would just shut everything down for a month

Good luck! Don’t eat all the “good” emergency food at once like I did! 😂 I’m all out of instant noodles but have a ton of beans and rice! Smh

I’m so jealous that NZ is an island. We are doing ok with the virus, but it’s a bit worrying that our neighbour countries have a different approach and their numbers are increasing significantly faster. Even with borders closed I’m a bit worried about that.

Also it turns out that our constitution has been built in a way that it’s really hard to force closedows or make people do anyhting they want. Funny how the positive freedom related thighs are now bad.

hockeybee0104 :  dispensaries and liquor stores bring in a large amount of tax dollars for the states.  They are being kept open for a reason.

missviolet92 :  oh man there were a lot of typos. Make people do anyhting they don’t want and things.  But controlling freedom related thighs could work too. Im in northern Europe. Well the UK is an island as well 😉
