@Sunshine23:  What a great idea. We don’t have these on our door. But I just read the reviews for the one you bought and people said the letters fade quickly. I hope yours doesn’t! Great idea-I’m going to look into getting one for our door, too. 🙂

I actually got mine for free from the animal hospital – it not only lets emergency workers know how many pets are in the home, but also asks them to take them to the animal hospital and lists its address.

@Sunshine23: That’s true. They aren’t expensive. Maybe they won’t fade for you. What a great idea! I’m going to get one, too!

I should still have a bunch of them at work. I could look for them and ship them out if someone wants. We got them from the ASPCA. PM me if you want some. I work in emergency management so we just give these away anyway.

That’s a great idea! We have a “Beware of Dog” sign b/c my hubby feels like it will keep robbers out. Hopefully if something happens they’ll notice that.

Here is the scoop the I’ve heard from the animal shelter I volunteer for…Firemen likely will not check it on the door.  Their first priority is to get in and get the fire under control. Put it someplace they will be looking for, such as the gas main.  They will look for that because the gas will need to be turned off.  I would check and see if that info can be registered with your address info at the dept., too.

We have that sign on our front door, back door, by the gas and water mains, and our electrical box.  It may be overkill, but the signs only cost a couple of bucks.  Also, all of our pets are microchipped so they can be returned to us if they get out on their own, which is the more likely senario.
