I consume at least 1500 calories a day, and it can go up to 1800. I’m 5’6″ and 130lbs so I assume that’s a pretty decent amount for me since I don’t need to lose any. But, I always feel like I should be having less as I get older since women tend to gain a pound a year…so it just creeps up on you. So anyway, I’m trying to keep it to 1500 maximum but it’s so hard!! I workout 2 times a week, 30 minutes of intense exercise. How about you ladies?

I vary greatly day to day but I’d say on average I’m around 1400 calories a day. At the highest, I probably eat 2000 a day. Somedays I might consume under 1000. I realize I am the worst eater ever.

I’m 5’6″ and 140ish lbs. I probably eat 2000+ daily. I also work out pretty regularly. If i’m eating 1500 calories or less, it’s because I’m trying to lose weight.

I don’t really count my calories daily so I’m not sure.

I’m 5’7 and about 142, and I definitely eat more than 1500 calories a day. I try to workout about 3 times a week too. You should probably add more options to your poll because if maintaining my goal weight, I can still eat over 1500 calories. I only eat less than 1500 if I’m trying to lose weight quickly.

I am sorry, but this is shocking to me, this is a very low calorie poll. I eat 2000+, that isn’t even an much of an option. I eat 2000-2500 and more if I splurge.

I’m 5’4 and 145. I would guess I eat around 1800 to 1900 a day, maybe up to 2100 on nights I go out. This is what maintains me at my current weight (with lots of running.
If I’m trying to lose weight I shoot for under 1500 a day.

I don’t eat very many calories per day, but apparently it is still too much! I’ve been trying to tone up and lose the extra weight I’ve gained (about 15 lbs), but it doesn’t seem to be working. Blah!

I usually eat around 1,800-2,000 – sometimes more. I am not dieting or even really watching my weight. I am 5’0, 105 pounds or so. I work out 5 times a week or more, so calories aren’t a huge concern of mine.

@cbee: agree – unless you’re a very small person, under 1200 calories a day is not enough, and in the “diet world” is considered an ULC – ultra low calorie diet. It is the quickest way to lose weight because, surprise! you’re not even consuming enough for your daily metabolic activity, i.e. for if you were to lie in bed doing nothing all day. So of course you’ll lose weight but your body will also starve, and the minute you up your calorie intake to something reasonable you’ll likely put all the weight back on. I work at a girls boarding school and i see students every day ruining their long term health in calorie wars, so all the teachers have had to become educated in this area. ULCs are great for short term weight loss (less than 2 weeks) that you don’t intend to keep off – but in the long term they are counter productive.
Also, i eat 1800-2000/day for weight loss, combined with 5 days/week of running.

I am 5’8 and I am trying to lose a little weight, so i count my calories using the LIvestrong website….When i started using it in January, I was 160 pounds and it said that I could eat 1700 calories a day to lose 1 pound a week…..now I am down to 154 and I can eat 1323 calories to lose 1 pound a week. At first, I thought it was really hard to limit myself, but I find it easy now and I am much more aware of portion sizes. I guess its working 🙂 I usually eat less than that now & I try to work out 4 times a week.

Mmm I don’t know…probably 1800-2000/day with intense cardio excercises 4 days a week.

I try to stay right around 1200, sometimes 1500. I also work out about 5 days a week on average.
ETA: I am currently trying to lose my “last 5 pounds.” I’ve lost 50 pounds already and have kept it off for over a year.
