I’m looking at places to try on wedding dresses (I have a specific dress in mind, yay!). Quite a few of the stores I’ve found have no in-house alterations. Is having that service just a nice perk, or should I be concerned about salons that do not have it?

in my experience inhouse alterations is a racket.. they charge an arm and leg to do what any seamstress can do… my in house place wanted to charge me 300 dollars to shorten the hem and add a bustle , i had a seamstress do it for 150.

The salon where I bought my gown doesn’t have in house alterations. Instead, they simply gave me a list of local seamstresses that they recommend. It would have allowed me to shop around if I didn’t already have a particular one I wanted to use.

asianyoushi: That’s crazy they wanted twice of what you wound up paying for!
