I love my husband’s family except for my Mother-In-Law. She is bossy, nosy, intrusive, and greedy. My mom went through a bankruptcy and foreclosure less than a year before my wedding but still was able to donate about $2000 toward my wedding (by taking out a loan on her 401k) and my dad who has a job as a manager at a supermarket and is nowhere near loaded was able to scrap up $4000 for us and paid for the hotel for our honeymoon. I think my parents were more then generous but my Mother-In-Law told me TO MY FACE that my parents didn’t give me enough for the wedding and that my dad “had more money but was holding back.” Oh and did I mention that SHE didn’t fork over a dime for all of her judgmental attitude!

My inlaws are fantastic. They’re a wondrful, lovey-dovey couple, first of all, which i think is great. I like that Fiance grew out of a truly loving relationship because it means we have an even better chance as a couple – he knows how a relationship is supposed to be and what it takes to make one work as opposed to someone who grew up in a home with unhappy parents or divorced/step parents.

They’re also really sweet people in general and they were so nice and kind to me right from the start.

I don’t really hate my inlaws, but I prefer not to deal with them. I haven’t really been around them at this point enough to fully get to know everything about them, but I’ve learned enough to know that I can’t see myself being interested in getting closer with them. My Mother-In-Law especially has some really bad manners and I don’t like being around people like that. However, if my Husband wants to spend time with them I am always willing to accompany him. Fortunately enough for me, my Husband isn’t close with his family and doesn’t need to see them very often. My Mother-In-Law just gets on my nerves because every single time she has picked us up to go somewhere in the past she has been late and she doesn’t call to say what time she is coming either. Her communication skills are horrible. I’m also quite disappointed with the reception she threw for us. She did everything the way she wanted to do it and didn’t keep us in the loop about it at all and it went over horribly. We had a pretty miserable time. However, we can’t blame her for the lousy DJ we hired.

My inlaws are awesome… I super love them and they SUPER love me. Its like we have known each other forever because they have become like 2nd parents…. my husband calls my parents ma and dad and my grandparents belong to him now as well and vice versa for my family… we are all peas in a pod together and I love it.
