Trying to finalize my music for the day… was talking over chat with my best friend that can’t make the wedding as he’s on tour (he’s a professional musician and my ‘music’ kindred spirit π ). When he asked me about what kind of song I was looking for (after we discussed things I loved but decided weren’t quite right) I told him “Something good…. a little soul, a little slow, a little joyful.
He immediately came back with “You could bring the house down with In My Life by The Beatles………i”m crying just thinking about it. And also because I danced with my Mpm to that at my wedding.”
I hadn’t really considered that one at all! I listened a few more times today… and I adore it, but I’m not sure if people will think it’s strange?
I love how weddings make you crazy by worrying about things normally you never would!
Has anyone seen this used at all for a processional?
Convos like this only make me sadder he won’t be there! π

I’ve seen a good handful of bees that responded to other processional threads that they used it!
We used another Beatles song for the Bridesmaid or Best Man processional and then All You Need Is Love for our processional.
I think if you like it then go for it! =)

I think it’s a lovely song…you’ve both loved other people (maybe), but you love the man you’re walking to more than anyone else in your life. I think it’s a lovely message. I walked to Here There and Everywhere, In My Life is our song, though.

Thank you ladies! I need to find a song for the girls to go before me… but I think I’ll be going with this for sure.
Recessional is Ray LaMontagne ‘You are the Best Thing’ π
First dance is Susan Tedeschi’s ‘Loving You is Sweeter than Ever’ and Father/Daughter is Edwin McCain ‘Walk With You’ that my stepdad picked out of a big list I sent him.
Still working on some prelude selections, the mother/son… trying to make it somewhat cohesive… its hard!

@thewheelsonthebus: OMG!!!! We’re having that to walk up the aisle together after the service. I’ve just literally written it down on the program to send to the vicar for him to proof read it.

@CatyLady: I like that we have a lot of the same about a week and a pond apart π
I really wanted to use Elbow’s ‘One Day Like This’, but it’s quite long and though they are my favorite… it just didn’t seem to ‘fit’ as well as it should… though it will be what I listen to last just before I make my way to the ceremony.

I’m using In My Life for my Daddy/Daughter! I’m using Good Day Sunshine for my wedding party processional, and Here Comes the Sun for my processional, and All You Need Is Love for the recessional. Love me some beatles!!

I think I remember you posting a thread about the Elbow track as I said to Fiance at the time, what does it sound like as I couldn’t recall it and he said ‘Oh it’s a great song’.

It’s only one of my favorite songs and possible contender for our first dance! Check out Chantal Kreviazuks cover. It rocks my world!

I love that song! We also used it for our parent dance.

@UpstateCait: Well then I HAVE to use it π
Nah, I’m convinced now. It’ll be my own little tribute to my bestie, and I think it fits in with the rest of the music for the day.
I went to music school… you’d think I’d have an easier time figuring the music out!
Then again.. look how well the whole ‘I’m a wedding planner thing’ is working for the wedding, ha!

@CatyLady: π Yeah, Elbow is very underappreciated and not well known still in the States. Two years ago they toured here opening for Coldplay. If those shows were anywhere else it would have been equal billing or the opposite π

I love, love, LOVE this song. It’s my favorite Beatles song. It’s in the running right now for Fiance and I’s first dance. I say USE IT! π
