I am so confused — the song is about this love enduring beyond all other relationships and affections the singer has had besides it. How is that wrong for a wedding? Isn’t that kind of the perfect message for a wedding?

I am considering using this somewhere, though it would be acoustic. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve heard this used at weddings before, it’s totally ok.

I walked down the aisle to this song, it is probably my single all-time favorite song in the world.  For me, it was perfect and I loved hearing it when I was walking down the aisle (I still tear up whenever I hear it!) so obviously, in my opinion, it’s not a wierd sentiment at all and also- who care? If you love the song, use it!

I remember a Bee here saying she walked down the aisle to the Johnny Cash version of this.

“In My Life” has been used in lots of Weddings, different covers, versions, genre’s…..

This song is totally perfect for a wedding! It’s about acknowledging that you do love everyone else in your life and you remember all the places you’ve been and things you’ve seen (growing up/pre-marriage), but now you have a new love and a new life and it’s the most important one (i.e. your new family — you and your husband — is your number one priority now). Definitely use it, everyone will love it!

I would say you’re overthinking. I adore this song and it’s on our must play list for the reception.

we had a quartet play this for our processional (not for me and my parents, but for everyone else) ๐Ÿ™‚ i think it’s perfect–it’s about how important all these people are to you, but that your partner is the most important.

I think it’s a completely appropriate song for a wedding. It would have been our first dance song. For us, it means that even though we’ve both loved other people, romantic and otherwise, that for now and forever more the love that we have for each other is the most biggest and most important (which is how it should be between spouses).

We used a guitar version of this song without lyrics for our processional and I loved it!
