Hi bees! I’m having a September wedding at a yacht club, so naturally our theme will be nautical (maybe a little rustic as well). I know it’s early, but we’re trying to decide if we’re going to hire a florist or if we’ll just DIY. Anything DIY scares Fiance, but I love being creative and have no trouble putting time into something like this. Not to mention, my parents owned a floral shop when I was growing up so I’ve messed around with flowers quite a bit.
Now my problem is that I just can’t seem to decide on what I want or what will match the theme. Our colors are navy, beige, and white with possible some touches of yellow or red. I have a very simple ivory dress ( http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Lace-Cap-sleeve-Trumpet-with-Keyhole-Back-and-Sash-VW9768_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Trend-Lace ). I also have a little blusher veil which matches perfect and gives the dress a vintage/rustic feel.
I love peonies, garden roses, ranunculas, and dinner plate dahlias. Peonies will be out of season, not to mention out of budget for out wedding. I also think that garden roses would be out of budget unless we did silk. I want the flowers to be really simple with no greenery and cream/ivory maybe with some creamy beige or blush for my bouquet.
I absolutely love this bouquet (sorry it’s huge)
The DIY tutorial uses silk hydrangeas and spider mums (which I don’t like at all, and they look nothing like this photo which I believe looks like dahlias with the hydrangea). I’ve seen photos of silk flowers that brides have used, and they look incredible, but the thought of silk still makes me nervous.
I also just discovered anemones, which when placed together in a bouquet, I think look the most nautical. However, the center of anemones are black and not navy, so I’m afraid they may clash.
Does anyone have any ideas for nautical, romantic, cream/ivory, simple flowers? lol That’s a lot more confusing than I thought. PLEASE HELP!!
