- Wedding: October 2011
Today was my “surprise” bridal shower and it was everything I could have hoped for and more. My bridesmaids, aunt and mom put on an amazing event and it couldn’t have possibly been more perfect. I’m still waiting to get some pictures back but I seriously couldn’t wait to share my day with you guys!
If you read my “gearin’ up” thread last night you’ll know that they went with a black and white damask/pink theme. I guess I was expecting a few elements here and there but instead was greeted by this…
I die! I can’t even express to you how badly I wanted chiavari chairs for our wedding but couldn’t afford them. Seriously, wow. They hit the nail on the head with this shower!
It was a brunch with bottomless mimosas, bloody marys, various different kinds of wine and a few of those boring non-alcoholic bevys. 🙂 They served 3 different kinds of quiche (sausage, which was fantastic, ham and spinach), breakfast pizza, ambrosia salad, gourmet sausage, mini bagels with cream cheese, french toast casserolle, fruit salad, mini muffins & cinnamon rolls, and some other stuff that I’m too tired to remember. The food was fantastic but I think the heat (well into the 90’s) kind of affected everyones appetite since there was soooo much left over.
(Don’t mind my big fat head)
My bridesmaids rock and kept the games at a minimum. Both were paper games that didn’t require any kind of physical activity (again, 90+ degrees) so those were a-ok with me.
The gift pile was pretty insane. We came home with a full car load and we still have to go back up tomorrow to pick up some more. I would say about 98% of the gifts were off the registry and those that weren’t were pretty sentimental.
My one bridesmaid had a field day making my stupid bow hat. Everyone then piled around to take pictures. Cue sweaty awkwardness…
Next it was time for dessert. Seriously…
Fiance came towards the end and brought me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers that all the women seriously almost died over. My mother cried and there were “aww’s” all around. Brownie points my friend, brownie points!
(Don’t mind that sweaty mess holding the flowers.=))
Bridesmaid E made the most adorable favors and I really hope that someone got some pictures of them. She made double heart, wedding dress and cake shaped sugar cookies and decorated them with royal icing. If you wouldn’t had known she made them you’d think they came straight from a bakery. I was only able to take a pic of the one that I brought home but take my word for it, the other cookies were incredible, too.
My girls (and aunt & mom) did an amazing job and I’m so thankful for them. They all seemed to really like their gifts, too, which was cool. Though, I did have to walk 2/3 of them through the whole “From my shower to yours” thing. Guess it didn’t click, lol. I’m going to be bringing some nice hanging plants up to my aunt and mom tomorrow as a thank you for all their hard work.
As other pictures start coming in I’ll post some more but I thought this would be a good start. Seriously guys, if I could have planned my shower myself, it would have been this. These ladies know me so well! The only downside was the intense heat and the fact that I now have raccoon eyes and a pulsating sunburnt chest. Oh well, I’ll get over it!
