Hi everyone. I’m hoping for some help and/or suggestions. Fi and I have decided to elope in a month due to medical problems. So here’s the challenge–finding a dress on a limited budget that is in stock and will fit me (I’m a 14 street, 16 in the wedding dresses I’ve tried on).
Here’s what I need…
1.) something that is in stock or will ship immediately (i.e. be here in less than 2 weeks).
2.) something that fits my super low budget (preferably under $200 but definitely under $300).
3.) something with a corset back (my medical problems mean severe bloating that is completely random so I want to make sure that I can adjust my dress if this happens on our wedding day)–anything in a size 14 or 16 with a corset back seems to work.
I’ve scoured online and found some great dresses in my price range and/or size, but then I seem to run across the issue of it not being in stock or taking extra time to custom make. I tried David’s Bridal during their $99 sale last week and really hit a wall. Everything was over my price range and honestly, I didn’t really even find something I liked (although I had a pretty poor salesperson too who kept pulling really fancy dresses). I’m in NYC so trying RK Bridal this Friday. I thought I found the perfect dress on recycledbride, but I have yet to hear back from the seller so I’m getting nervous that this won’t happen.
Has anyone run across anything or been in a similar situation and have any suggestions? Specific dresses, websites, or places to check? Or advice on navigating ebay–I’m not opposed to that route, but feel buried every time I look. There’s so much variety in time frames and so many styles that I can’t seem to narrow it down to find a clear choice. Thank you!!!

Just an idea, have you tried sites like http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com? Not all dresses are “pre-worn,” there are lots of new gowns (samples) on there too.

I agree with PP. Check online at used wedding shops. Even kijiji or something might have one! I was able to sell my brand new wedding dress on kijiji. And, if they are in your area, you can buy it on the spot! 🙂

Both of these from CSB have a corset back:
Sweetheart, size 14, $250:
Unknown designer, size 18, $200:
This one is more expensive, but it’s been in their inventory for a few months, so maybe you could explain the circumstances and see if they can lower the price to move it. Maggie Sottero, size 14, $400:

Nicole Miller could be an option. My dress has a corset back and they may have more that have a corset back as well (although mine is the only one I tried like that). I ordered my dress on a Saturday and received it in the mail the next Friday (although they tried to deliver it on Wednesday but needed a signature). They have a bridal salon in Soho if you’re interested but it depends on the type of dress you’re looking for. Nicole Miller dresses tend to be more on the non-traditional side of the bridal fashion spectrum.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions…I went a little over my budget, but managed to find a gorgeous dress in a local bridal shop that was marked down to more than half off…not at all what I would have picked out, but I had an amazing consultant who really helped me find something amazing, in stock, and in my budget.

Good for you! That is a lovely dress!

Buy consignment, or an off-the-rack dress from a department store or some-such. You’re not going to be able to get a bridal salon dress in 2 weeks.

If you look two posts above–the OP did find a gown in a bridal salon.
OP your dress is gorgeous. I’m happy it worked out for you.
