I feel the same way…I went off BC a few months ago and Fiance and I are just using condoms…I’m a day late this month and it’s freaking me out!!!  I’m having normal PMS symptoms too, and I did take a test and it was negative.  But the worst case scenarios just keep running through my head….so you’re not alone!

FWIW, you’re probably OK.  Your body can take some time to adjust to the new BC, and it might take a day or two extra at first.  And it definitely sounds like you’re a little stressed, and worrying about pregnancy definitely doesn’t help Aunt Flow come quicker!  Try and take some deep breaths and just let everything be…easier said than done I know.  Maybe a glass of wine and a bubble bath?

When I was using the NuvaRing, I would take it out Saturday and my period wouldn’t come until Thurs.  When I was on the pill it would come Wednesday.  I think you’re probably fine!  Try not to stress.

I really don’t think you should worry. BC can do some pretty strange things to the body. The biggest thing now is to try to relax and not be so stressed out about it (easier said than done – trust me I understand). Stress can delay your period that much more. Try not to worry about it, especially since you are having period symptoms 🙂

Nah, you’re fine. I use the Nuva ring and your body is just adjusting to the hormones. totally normal!

@Stace126:  take a deep breath. Starting any new form of hormonal birth control can mess with your cycle and cause a late or missed period. Your stress about not getting it and the wedding and everything else will just make it worse and delay it even more. I am on the pill, have been for years, and my period has ALWAYS shown up like clockwork. With the wedding looming over my head and stress about finding us a new apartment on top of it, my period’s been almost nonexistent the last two months.

I really doubt you are pregnant, but even if you are-I promise, everything will work out. Right now, the best thing you can do is relax. Good luck!

I don’t think you have anything to worry about. New  bc can sometimes change your pd a little.

When I take out my NR, it’s the fourth or fifth day afterward that my period starts. I think once it was even the sixth day! So I really, really think you’re fine. 🙂

@Stace126:  I’m on the NuvaRing now and it took me a while to get used to it. Since this is a new bc for you, I think your body just needs time to adjust. If you’re really freaking out about it that much, I would just take a test to put your mind at ease.

I was on Nuva Ring – LOVED it.  I found it took longer to get my period on nuva ring than when i’d been on the pill.  I had to go off birth control about 2 years ago because I get migraine headaches with occasional auras which puts me at super high risk for stroke when combined with BC (so i’ve been told).  I’m paranoid every month now even with the condoms (which I HATE – i had very rarely used them prior to now).  I’m currently 2 days late (I think…I have a hard time keeping track) and I’m about to freak out.

For you – I wouldn’t worry yet!  I found whenever I changed BC’s it always screwed things up a little

Honestly, you don’t need to worry so much.

You JUST introduced a new hormone into your body, and its going to take a little while to get used to it.

I used to get SUPER paranoid about stuff like this too, to the extent that for a while I was on BC, Darling Husband used a condom AND pulled out!

Even when we slipped up I still always got my period.

It will be okay.
