Wow, grammar much?  Sorry for the snarky.

This post sounds strange to me, like one of those phishing emails.  Or is it just me?

@Mrs. Chai:  PPI is payment protection insurance.

Basically in the UK loads and loads of companies have latched onto the fact that if you had a bank loan/credit cards from a few years ago, banks automatically included PPI,even if you didnt need/want it. So these *ahem* companies say that they will claim it alll back for you.

But of course,a report came out a few weeks ago that its best to claim it back staight from your bank, because these companies basically rip you off. Say the OP got back 2,000, she may have been actually owed 4,000 but  “Ben” got that 2 grand as wages.

The adverts are so annoying.

Yeah it’s probably a scam.  PPI is some protection insurance thing that’s big here in the UK.  There’s a whole bunch of company claiming they can get you money back if you signed up for PPI unwilling but it sounds like most of these kind of companies are a scam.

I don’t understand why everyone is so hard on her and the snarkiness is really uncalled for. I joined this site based on how lovely the ladies were. If i saw this as a first time poster i would be so turned off. Even if you think It’s fishy being rude is not the solution.

@MrsRice2Be:  I’m sorry for the rude remarks

@DevolSyawla:  I don’t think people were trying to be snarky; this post just sounded a bit like those lovely spam emails asking for my credit card information.

@MrsRice2Be:  Glad this worked out for you! Don’t be offended by people’s comments on this post — they didn’t realize it was a real person, not a hacker somewhere trying to scam them πŸ™‚

The PPI scam was on Watchdog (A consumer protection show) a few weeks ago. Yes, some people have been missold loan insurance, but you don’t need solicitors/companies to claim the money back.

This is done in the small claims court and under new legislation, any potential claimants will be written to by the banks and informed of the same. They are also under a legal obligation (the banks) to help you with such a claim.

The claims companies are unneccessary and not only take a large percentage of any award, (If memory serves, it can be up to a third) make you pay thier costs if they lose. They lose a lot. My bank manager was telling me that they convince people to file claims when there is little chance of success as they will recoup from either side in any event. The courts got wise to all the bogus claims, so whilst a lot were rubber stamped, now they are being carefully scrutinised.
