@CARA1978:  I wouldn’t leave until there was some signal that it was time to leave.  I’ve always thought people who leave events early because they are bored are crass and selfish.  If your family typically books it after other events,  expect them to do the same at your wedding.  Just my two cents 🙂

Well I adore Portland and cannot wait to revisit so would stay under thrown out!

But seriously, I think it all depends on your guests. We’re great fans of chatting and enjoying a convivial evening and for sure I did not want a cheesy DJ or additional entertainment at my reception and it was a lovely, lively evening with lots of great conversations. But then our family and friends love that stye of do.

I think it is incredibly rude when people disappear early without good reason but some just aren’t great at entertaining themselves. You know your guests and how they are likely to react but for sure, your reception sounds fabulous to me. It might be worth letting people know what your evening will be like though so that mistaken assumptions are avoided.
