We are hoping to have our elopement ceremony outdoors but if the weather is bad, we will need a place inside to do everything, What do you do in this situation? Do you have to rent a church or other location in order to be able to use it as a back up?

Are you having a reception after? Usually reception places let you use their facilities for a back up ceremony.

@bride2beIn2012: No we are eloping so no reception. I have never heard of someone using their reception venue for their wedding… wouldn’t it cost more?

Also, If I am not having a reception what do I do? Pay upwards of 200 for a potential ceremony site that we might never use?

I’m in a similar situation. I have booked a garden to do the ceremony at, very small and intimate, destination wedding. We will have a home party/reception later.
I checked the farmer’s almanac for weather when picking my date(crazy I know!!). I do not have a backup plan. I guess we can rent a tent, but ya know I looked up and saw many outdoor weddings in the rain and they were beautiful. So I’m going to cross my fingers and hope for sunshine.
Of course on the day of..I might cry and beg my dad to rent a tent..who knows?
