You have PLENTY of time to wait to send the Save-The-Date Cards (if Oct 2013 is accurate), I think – I’d really suggest getting the wedding website done before sending them and including it on that. I tracked web traffic and over 30% of people who received Save the Dates checked out our website. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but just get basic info up.

That said, I am including the wedding website on our invitations. I have a pocketfold invitation and the inserts are directions, lodging, reception, and RSVP. The website is on the RSVP (we are doing all online or phone RSVPs), lodging (for more info, we included the basic info of hotel names, phone numbers, and rates on the insert), and directions (for more info on how to get there).

I added it to the bottom line of our invitation and the STD.  I think dropping in a business card with the info is also a good idea.  Put together a basic website with a line about “More Information to Come Soon!” or “Check Back Soon for More Information!”

We’re sending our save the dates out next month since we have so many people coming in from out of town and out of the country.  Up to a year in advance is considered appropriate, especially if it’s a destination wedding or a large number of guests will need to travel or it’s a popular time of the year to get married (i.e. June.)

@beachbride1216:  Yeah, I agree a year in advance is fine to send them out. It doesn’t take that long to put together the website though, even if some of the info is “more to come later” (my wedding party page was that way when we sent out STDs). I’d make it a priority to get it done before the Save-The-Date Cards go out, especially for a destination wedding.

I used Weebly for free website creation, if that’s helpful at all 🙂
