We lost my great grandmother about 7 years ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long). However, before she passed, she crocheted these beautiful doilies for each of the great grandchildren, so that we could use them on our ring bearer pillows. Low and behold, we’ve chosen to go without the flower girl and ring bearer.
I’ve got to find a way to incorporate that doily! I don’t want to just set it on a table where it will go unnoticed… but I can’t seem to come up with any other ideas. I’m planning on using some lace from my mom’s dress to bind my bouquet, so that’s out. We’re not doing any kind of sand or unity candle ceremony to incorporate in the setting for that…
Can anyone help me come up with any other ideas?

YOu could make a necklace:
or a flower, either as a hairflower or to include in your bouquet
You could also make one of these lace luminaries but i think that a heirloom doily is too precious to just glue it on a glass and it deserves to be transformed into something very special.

I like the idea of making it into a flower!

@Usuki: Those are all wonderful ideas. I’ll have to check and see how large it is… if it’s too large, the flower might not work… but that really is neat to think that I might be able to incorporate it into my bouquet. And to be honest, those luminaries are beautiful, too. But with either scenario, it’ll be a little bit difficult to deface one of the last things Great Grandma made for me… I’ll have to get some reassurance from my mom 🙂
Thank you so much.

Slip it into a frame and display it beside the guestbook.
