I thought I had decided on the Casablanca 1997, but then extreme indecision hits accompanied by the unsure thoughts of friends, bridesmaids, and family
Today I put a downpayment on the Casablanca 1997, but as I’m purchasing a sample gown, I have the option of transferring this payment to another dress in the store. So I made up my mind…but still have the option of changing it.
I liked the Casablanca 1997 dress because it is comfortable (major for me), simple, and flowy. An undertone of our wedding is the major Star Wars nerdiness that my Fiance has (and me too, I’ll admit), and as such my Fiance will be wearing a vest (because Han Solo wears one), and I’m looking for a “Princess Leia-esque” dress. Outside/backyard BBQ/picnic, wildflowers for bouquets, TOMS for shoes, mismatched bridesmaids, rolled-up sleeves on the guys in vests, and potentially grey or khaki.
The dress in the store is actually a custom that a bride canceled after it arrived, so the ribbon is a yellow/ivory (it would go… I’m not a fan), and a sweetheart neckline.
I can’t decide on the flowers. I hated them at first, then they grew on me, and my friend thought they’d look good, various others said to keep some, but not others…. I’m not sure what I think of them anymore (depends who I’m talking to at the moment – terrible, I know) we could just as easily take them ALL off. But I’m afraid it might look too bland/plain…? but it’s just too froofy, busy, and formal with them!
The other dress I am thinking about is this the Casablanca 1959 (the odds that they’re both the same designer?!?!). I like the simplicity of it, the short train, and the spunky feel of it. But I can’t decide if it’s too formal, or too big, or too MUCH dress. I am not a fan of how “intentional” the ruching is on the bodice – almost makes it more of pleats than ruching, which I’m not super into. It’s not nearly as lightweight as the 1997, and I’m not sure how exactly it fits into the feel of the backyard/bbq wedding idea.
My inspiration for the Casablanca 1997 dress:
This is a picture I found on Pinterestl I have it on one of my wedding boards and I have gotten the most comments on it out of all the ones I pinned. I love how classic, flowey and simple it is, oddly enough it’s very similar to the flower-less 1997.
