Can you post a few rings/setting that you like? It may be easier to help you if we have a sense of your style. I’m really loving the asschers.

How about this setting by Maevona?

laurenthurbon :  I think the NEO moissanite cushions look amazing. You can get them from [email protected]. She also makes erings.  The Elizabeth ring has a wonderful profile and a thicker band. The second ring is the Jolie. Both should fit flush with wedding band. Just contact her through Etsy and get her to post a custom order for you. You can ask her if the Neo or the SUPERNOVA cut is better for a cushion or round…which has a less splintery look (which C&C can have for certain cuts).

laurenthurbon :  So, the first picture looks to be a knife-edge band (these tend to be love-hate, I find them uncomfortable). The second more of a comfort fit band. Both are 4-prong setting. On a round, the 4-prong will tend to make it look square-ish. So, for round, I prefer a 6-prong settings. In a cushion, you can use just 4-prongs, but be aware that a 4-prong setting is less secure for your stone. Both pictures are either fully flush or flushish. So, you need to make sure the setting you choose does not preclude this. See pics below.

Have you tried on both shapes in the approx. size stone you want ? If not, that would be my first move. I really liked marquise until I put one on my hand. Since I have wide fingers, the ‘gap’ in coverage on the sides made my fingers look wider. My friend has very short and square nail-beds and she found squarish shapes made that look worse.

If you go with a round, check out MoissaniteCo Hearts and Arrows and Amora Gem Soaring Hearts and Arrows, as well as Neo or SUPERNOVA. Lots here prefer the MoisaaniteCo Hearts&Arrows over Amora Gem Soaring Hearts&Arrows. I favor the Amora, but I’m pretty dazzled by the Neo and SuperNova. If you go with C&C, make sure to go through a retailed that will hand select the stone. They are a bit hit&miss with cut.  Have you considered an OEC moissy? OEC are getting a bit hard to find, but they are really lovely and tend to dampen the disco-ball effect.

Personally, I will soon have a 5-stone (3 rounds, 2 pears). I ended up with a round center as it was the last OEC Amora Gem in the size I wanted, so I snagged it. If I had not found an OEC Amora Gem, I’d have gotten a cushion from NEO or SUPERNOVA.

I’d go round between round and cushion.  I’ve had a cushion and I wasn’t a fan.

I have a 4.5mm F1 cushion moissanite. Please note that moissanite cushions are very different to diamond cushions in the cut. Moissanite has quite sharp corners and is has true square proportions whilst the diamond is enlongated usually, but can vary and there are some that are 1:1. They also vary on the roundness.

My ring has square prongs which hide the square corners of the cushion moissy and it creates an illusion of almost a princess cut. I had no say at all about the setting, I just requested for a cushion moissanite. I love my moissy and the way it looks, but sometimes I wish I would have considered and asscher too.

Adding the most HD shot I managed to take of it with my phone camera (I resized it on paint lol, so hopefully it’s not huge) here:

I love my H&A round, I personally wouldn’t recommend a normal RB cut moissanite. I considered a cushion cut for a while and I think they’re beautiful!

Here’s my set:

laurenthurbon :  Thank you! It’s a 1.5 ct, size 5.25.

Regular round cut moissanite from C&C (Classic Morissanite, Forever Brilliant & Forever One) is cut to maximize the performance of moissanite and tends to look splintery, it looks very different from how a round diamond is cut. The crown is flatter, it’s shallow and has a wide table. The Forever One does look better than previous versions.

H&A = Hearts & Arrows. It’s a different round cut that shows arrows in the stone, is less shallow and has a smaller table. The crown is also higher. This cut allows the stone to receive more light so the center doesn’t go dark and it also doesn’t have the splintery cut. It’s made of the same material as Forever One (4H SiC), but is not made by C&C.

I got my ring from MoissaniteCo.com. They offer the H&A as well as regular Forever One RBs. They offer comparison information and videos on their site if you’re interested.
