My Fiance is Indian and Muslim, but I’m not and many of our guests aren’t. We’re doing an engagement ceremony and an Indian Muslim wedding. We want to make little cards to pass out at the engagement that give blurb descriptions of what’s happening (the sandalwood scented oil, feeding us sweets, garlands, gifts) and meaning/why. I’ve also seen this type of thing at a Hindu wedding before, so I’m hoping to maybe have similar event description blurbs for the manjha (haldi) where they put the yellow turmeric paste on me, mehndi, and nikkah. Does anybody have any examples or templates or sites w descriptions they like?

This is a great idea, but it might be something you need to do manually – especially for secondary functions like haldi and engagement ceremony. Consider how many people in attendance (I’m guessing mostly your non-desi friends?) will actually need this and benefit from this for it to be worth the time and effort.
Can this be a task you can pass off to a bridesmaid or cousin?

There are a bunch of these on Etsy. Just search for something like “Indian wedding program”.

akshali2000 : amandainbk : thanks for your advice. We made just a simple handout on nice paper with some basic information typed out (for the engagement and our nikkah) and we might do the same for the wedding. If someone ever wants some sample wording, I can pass it on. (I did not find many or almost any descriptions online.)
