I know there are at least a couple other Indianapolis brides out there …
Cake. Where did you try/buy? What price ranges did you find per slice? Anyone go with cupcakes? Or a few, separate, special occasion cakes (like, simple, round, cakes) instead of a full-on wedding cake?
Background: I got engaged July 4, moved to Indy July 15, and am getting married here next June … it is hard planning a wedding in a city you don’t know at all yet! 😛

Hello! Welcome to Indy!
I was married this past August, so I’ll try to help you out with the cake issue! My reception location ~ The Montage at Allison Pointe ~ has a pastry chef on their staff so I used their baker for my cake. I submitted a picture from a magazine and they came pretty darn close to matching it! They did a great job.
Heavenly Sweets Cakes in Noblesville, Indiana, is a great baker ~ they baked my cousin’s wedding cake and it was delicious! I’ve heard great reviews from other brides, as well.
As for planning your wedding in Indianapolis and not knowing the area, I thought I’d let you know that I am an event planner. I’m just starting out ~ I loved planning my wedding so much that I decided to continue doing it for other people ~ so I’m totally flexible with pricing and can be as involved in the planning process as you want me to be. My website is http://www.BustleEventDesign.com (not totally functional, yet, but will be done soon!) and my blog is http://www.BustleEventDesign.blogspot.com.
I hope this doesn’t come across as a shameless plug ~ I have read Weddingbee every single day since getting engaged in July 2007 and I’m not on here to promote myself at all – just trying to be helpful! Even if you aren’t interested in hiring me, I can still help you out as a fellow Weddingbee reader!

ALSO, I love the idea of doing cupcakes instead of one big cake. I kind of regret not going that route!

I just booked Heavenly Sweets yesterday.
I have had their cake in the past. SO yummy!

My sister used Heavenly Sweets…the cake was "ok," but not worth the price (in my opinion). They are also weird about delivery times, and sometimes cut it close.
We personally booked with Paige from Sweet Seductions Cakes. She’s based out of Camby (west suburb of Indy). She is WONDERFUL, a bundle of fun, and super talented (www.sweetseductions.biz). And talk about affordable! We’re estimating 200 for our wedding, and our cake (4 tiers, plus sheet cakes for extra slices…which won’t be displayed)….less than $500. Great deal.
