@janie-janie: I listen to a lot of indie rock and Christian music and I know that I want to play one of the songs by favorite bands at the wedding. One of my favorite is “Dance in Perfect Time” by Deas Vail

It’s a comfortable sound
The passing cars that calm our bodies down
In this little town
We’ll fade into summer’s new background
So we’ll take this car tonight
It’s just a life
We’ll dance and dance in perfect time

Our hiding dreams
Are silhouttes that take us in our sleep

So if what we had is real
How should this feel
Just dance and dance

Tell me, tell me can you tell me
That the page will turn itself
And take us somewhere else

It’s a turning key
When two are one, they set eachother free

I really like their new single Sixteen but it’s not released until June 7th on an EP and the cd will be released in September, but here is a link to a lyric video.

Copeland and Edison Glass are nice too, maybe you can find something by them. Good luck!

@janie-janie: Oh and I really like The Workday Release also. They’re a Christian band, too and one of my favorite songs from them is Love In A Box

It’s easy to see how everything is loosely
Put into a box to describe how
Well it is working
but can you tell me
How did she knock me off of my feet
When she said hello
My name is beautiful
I said excuse me miss but it’s time for me to hit the floor
And now this dancing has turned to falling
Words can’t do justice to this girl I know

And It’s those deep breaths that get me through the times
she’s standing next to me
She’s nothing short of lovely
Does she notice that I can’t breathe
Everything around me is getting hazy

I’ll loosen up my tie
No use in being shy

So take one petal at a time
And toss it to the ground
Closer now, I’ll touch your lips to mine
And feel how we have to hold our breath
To make sure we don’t miss one moment tonight

Under this moonlight
I can see the mystery behind your eyes
With every taste girl, well I delight in you
And yet this distance
That separates my hand from yours
Can only make me appreciate your heart
I adore you

So take one petal at a time
And toss it to the ground
Closer now, I’ll touch your lips to mine
And feel how we have to hold our breath
To make sure we don’t miss one moment tonight

Quiet now, she’s fast asleep
And to my arm she’s clinging
You’re mine girl
And my heart is yours

So take one petal at a time
And toss it to the ground
Closer now, I’ll touch your lips to mine
And feel how we have to hold our breath
To make sure we don’t miss one moment tonight

I’ve had the same issue with my Fiance also.  He hates my music!  I wanted to throw in a really great song that just came out last month by City and Colour.  My Fiance hated it of course…but I think it would be beautiful as a first dance song.  It’s called “We Found Each Other in the Dark” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er5BJuO0KEo).  Also, you should look into Vitamin String Quartet for your wedding ceremony music.  They take current songs and turn them into instrumental music…so you have the traditional instrumental music but they’re really familiar.  My Fiance is using “Forever Young” by Audra Mae for his mother-son dance.  I love the original song by Bob Dylan, but Audra’s rendition is SO much prettier.  I’m using “Daughter” by Loudon Wainwright III for my father-daughter dance.  I found it hard to pick out a song for my Dad and I because I wanted it to sound a little classic rock/country and couldn’t find anything that wasn’t too sappy…so it’s a good one if you don’t want to use the old “Butterfly Kisses” song.

My fiance and I are walking down the aisle to Postcards from Italy by Beirut, and we’re having our first dance to Dreams by The Cranberries.  A little offbeat but both songs bring tears to my eyes whenever i hear them so i know they are right!

We’re having an outdoor wedding overlooking the ocean, and I’ll be walking down the aisle to Eva Cassidy’s “Songbird”. It makes me cry every time I hear it, and my Maid/Matron of Honor and I have practised walking to it and it’s very smooth and comfortable. YouTube it – it’s from the Love Actually soundtrack. The first time I heard it I knew it was perfect for us. Her voice gives me chills.

and “Brighter than Sunshine” was a close second to the Eva Cassidy song. It’s by Aqualung.

I am thinking either The Zomies “This Will be our Year” or NRBQ “Only You” for the first dance.  Might use Only You as a recessional. It works out well because they are older songs which reflect what Fiance usually listens to and the more unusual stuff like I usually like.

I’m thinking of using “Brighter than Sunshine” by Aqualung

I never understood before I never knew what love was for My heart was broke, my head was sore What a feeling

Tied up in ancient history I didnt believe in destiny I look up you’re standing next to me What a feeling

What a feeling in my soul Love burns brighter than sunshine Brighter than sunshine Let the rain fall, i don’t care I’m yours and suddenly you’re mine Suddenly you’re mine And it’s brighter than sunshine

I never saw it happening I’d given up and given in I just couldn’t take the hurt again What a feeling

I didn’t have the strength to fight Suddenly you seemed so right Me and you What a feeling

What a feeling in my soul Love burns brighter than sunshine It’s brighter than sunshine Let the rain fall, I don’t care I’m yours and suddenly you’re mine Suddenly you’re mine

It’s brighter than the sun It’s brighter than the sun It’s brighter than the sun, sun, shine.

Love will remain a mystery But give me your hand and you will see Your heart is keeping time with me

What a feeling in my soul Love burns brighter than sunshine It’s brighter than sunshine Let the rain fall, I don’t care I’m yours and suddenly you’re mine Suddenly you’re mine

I got a feeling in my soul … [repeat chorus to end]

I think it is a happy song as opposed to getting burned by love…

Hey I’m sincerely sorry I didn’t take that into considerations! I’m not trying to push religion on you in any ways. It’s just mostly what I listen to lol. I hope you find the perfect song! The Beatles sounds like a great choice =)
