I am trying to figure out a ceremony site for our wedding. We are thinking about having our reception at the Holiday Inn Plaza Mart, but I don’t like the venue for the ceremony. We aren’t religious and the wedding will be in winter, so we need something indoors. We will be inviting about 250 people. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for the help!

I dont know if it’s a possibility, but I see that Fultons on the River is nearby. Even though you cant do it outside, you could also try to rent one of their rooms.

That’s a tough one! If you’re doing an indoor ceremony and you’re not wanting a church setting you might consider trying to find a venue that you like for both the ceremony and reception. I’ve shot in the Holiday Inn Plaza Mart, and it’s without a doubt the nicest Holiday Inn ever, but I can see why you wouldn’t want to have the ceremony there. Are you looking for a modern setting? Or would you be open to something more ornate?

@Kikiski: So glad to hear you aren’t settling for something less than what you love! Since you’re looked at the Holiday Inn Merchandise Mart, is your preference a hotel? Or are you open to different types of venues? Are you working within a certain budget?
I went to a gorgeous winter wedding at Architectural Artifacts, and the wedding venue we selected (Ravenswood Event Center) has a gorgeous glass atrium that we’re using for the ceremony before we move to the other levels for cocktails and dinner.
Venue One is another option that you may want to look at, more of a blank space than the other two.
And not sure if you’re married to a specific part of the city, but I recently hosted a more formal event at the South Shore Cultural Center for work – it was huge hit.

We just got engaged and are already knee-deep in searching for a wedding venue. We just nailed down our budget which helped me eliminate one of my pinboards, and start being able to add to another. I am keeping my ideas all in one place. Are you looking at just hotels? There is a very nice place a close friend of mine got married at called Gallery 128. Her ceremony was beneath skylight windows with sun reflecting in. Very beautiful. We are most likely going to be sticking to a hotel venue though.
