    @DeadlyNightshade:  Luckily I got my dream venue – the sears tower!  When I see pictures of ourdoor venues I think they are so beautiful with greenery and sunshine, but unless you’re in a heated tent outdoors, I feel like having a reception outside is too risky – what if it rains or the weather is unseasonbly hot or cold?

    Where was your dream venue?

    I thought Darling Husband would be over the moon with MY dream venue… but, when we seriously considered it – it had elements that weren’t so dream afterall.  Once we started visiting places, those elements became very clear.

    Ultimately, we found a place that had all the essential elements.  I wouldn’t say it was our dream venue (my all-time dream venue was not in our budget), but it worked out well for us.

    Both my Hubby and I loved our venue-we both wanted an outdoor ceremony. The ceremony was outside, dinner was inside and the rest of the reception folks just wandered back and forth between inside and outside. It was also really important to both of us to find a venue that was pet friendly, so Claxton Farm just fit our need just perfectly and fortunately was within our budget.

    We wanted outdoor ceremony space with an indoor reception venue, which is what we had. I wanted outdoor for the ceremony space, because we are very outdoorsy people so even though we had our wedding in the middle of San Diego on the bay, we wanted a good view and fresh air.

    We wanted indoor reception space because we got married at the end of October and I didn’t want to worry about the weather – I had enough variables and I wanted to have control over that part at least. The nice thing about the venue was that it had floor to ceiling windows with a view of downtown SD across the bay, so even though it was inside, you still had a nice view.

    And I don’t have a good photo of the whole Reception space, but here’s the reason we booked it – the view:

    @DeadlyNightshade:  Do you live somewhere where it’s super hot in July?  Let me just tell you that I went to an outdoor ceremony last July in the midwest and although it was a gorgeous setting, it was unbearably hot.  I think there was some sort of heat advisory going on that day.  I felt sick.  I know the bride and groom had to retake their wedding pictures on another day b/c they were both sweating profusely that day!  Just something to think about….

    Courtyard for the wedding, large meeting room for the reception. I guess we could have done it in reverse given our location, but the inside of the church is huge and would be hard to decorate and the outside is smaller and prettier. I was honestly more focused on the ceremony than the reception in a lot of ways. That was what was important to me.  I guess for some people it’s the reverse.

    We have an outdoor space that was used for ceremonys by other couples but we will most likly be using it for  our cocktail hour
