sheheartsjay:  idk where in ATL you are, but another bee was just posting about roswell historic cottage. There’s the mill at yellow river, which is in porterdale. Another would be the engine room and the cotton warehouse, both are in Monroe. Idk if this fits, but summerour studio is in downtown, not too far from tech. Hopefully these will give you a start!

In Atlanta: Ambient Plus Studio, King Plow, Summerour Studio, Freight Room, Terminus 330, the Brickyard. We’re looking for a similar space, and unfortunately most of that type are affiliated with specific event coordinators and caterers. We thought it’d be cheap but definitely not the case.

sheheartsjay:  We’re touring Ambient tonight and Roswell Historic Cottageon Wednesday, so I’ll report back! I’ve been very impressed with the responsiveness of both so far.

Okay, Ambient: very cool in person, and I didn’t think the area around it was as “rough” as some people had commented online (although it’s not in the burbs by any stretch, either). We were quoted $5300 for 100 guests, including parking lot/attendant, security guard, tables/chairs (including some upgraded farm tables), set up and break down by their staff, string lights with Edisom bulbs, a giant curtain to divide the room, and a ping pong table (my fiance was beyond excited about that). The bathrooms are kinda “vintage” and the entrance without stairs is very grungey/industrial. The person we spoke with was great, though. Their availability was totally booked for September and October, and we put a hold on a date in mid-November. Still not sure if our older guests would be sold on this place, but our friends would love it.

Roswell Historic Cottage: I was frankly not happy about this one. I had an appointment, showed up, she showed me the entire place in less than five minutes. I asked a few questions, then once we were back in the office, I asked about their availability. They are booked every Saturday in 2016 except Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. I almost felt like she was being sarcastic or something in even pulling up the calendar. Like, I’m sure she knew that there was nothing there, right? So basically I wasted two hours of my life driving up to Roswell. I also felt like some of the decor looked kind of cheap or out of place in person, but it would’ve definitely been workable.
