My weddig gown is a sheath made of ivory silk under guipure lace with a chiffon cummerbund waist, by Modern Trouuseau, but my dancing/ exit dress is 150 bucks, off the rack, from Sears. Seriously. So excited to wear them both!

Some of these are very pretty! When we went to get groomsmen measured for tuxes I definitely noticed that some of the prom dresses were quite bridal-looking, especially the all-lace light-colored ones. (At this particular store it was either that or dresses that were so short I literally could not imagine anyone wearing it as a dress.) But that seems like an outrageous amount of money for a prom dress. My wedding dress is a Mori Lee and it was $600, which is less than a lot of these. My actual prom dress I got for $20 from a consignment store.

I went to prom 5 years ago and it seems like styles have changed soooo much in that short period of time. I see some of my FSIL’s friend’s prom dresses and it shocks me! I spent close to $600 on my senior prom dress but it at least covered me (I know it’s a lil low cut but still)! And to this day it’s still my favorite dress I’ve ever worn, but that will soon change!

Seems to me some of these “prom” designers are very canny. Way to break into the bridal market without getting the stigma of ‘budget bridal’. Sell white dresses for $500+, and your customer is happy she got something ‘designer’ for a ‘bargain’ 😉

I’m so glad I found this thread bc I found this dress online today by Jovani and nearly screamed bc if I love it!  Could it work as a wedding dress for a small outdoor ceremony??
