So, this is an odd dilemma, and a total first world problem, but does anyone have two wedding sets? I have a very pretty wedding set that I adore, but it cost my husband a pretty penny, and I get nervous wearing it to work and having something happen to it. So I usually only wear it if we are going out or sitting at home not doing much. we were talking about maybe getting an inexpensive solitaire and gold band to wear everyday so that I still look married, and then just wear my nice set when I’m not working and getting dirty. Does anyone have two sets? Or a work ring and a fancy ring? I’m looking for some ideas and pictures are always welcome!! 😉

What kind of work do you do? Unless it’s something incredibly hands-on or working with factory machinery or harsh chemicals, I would probably wear my “real” set all the time. I’m not engaged/married yet but I have my grandmothers wedding ring that has several small diamonds in the band and I’ve worn it daily without worry. But if you’ll be so worried about the ring you can’t focus, maybe do get a second set! Everyone I know just wears their real one though.

Imho, rings are made and meant to be worn. I agree with PP, unless you are incredibly rough on your hands at work, I would just wear my rings.
Now we need a picture 😉

I work as a teacher. Which doesn’t sound totally rough, but I do a surprising amount of damage to my hands, not to mention having to pick play doh and whatever else out of the setting constantly and accidently scratching children with the pointy end of the pear shaped diamond. I’ve had my ring repaired several times since getting it, so I am just very cautious with it now as it seems much more fragile than I thought, but I’m too sentimental ly attached to it to change it or get rid of it. I was jus thinking something small and simplementation that would still say married, but wouldn’t take the place of my other set.

I got a ‘stand in’ ring when we went on vacation in Hawaii and I knew we would be on the beach, in the ocean etc.

If you’re regularly having to pick Play-Doh and other craft materials out of your ring and have already accidentally scratched a child with the pointed end of your pear-shaped diamond, then, yes, I would suggest that you wear an alternative set while at work..

I have an inexpensive tiny white gold and sapphire ring I wear while travelling so I can leave my gorgeouse diamond solitaire save at home. Once we are married I will probably just wear my weddin band for daily wear and travel and the full set at home and when going home

You could always buy a Ring Cozy to protect it while at work. I just ordered one a few days ago because I’m scared of smacking my e-ring into something, lol.

I’m a teacher – I just wear my wedding band to work and my complete set when I’m not at work. I bought a stacking ring set – so I change it up and it’s fun and I don’t have to worry about knocking my ring around or getting it caught on anything.

I think it depends on what you want to spend (in terms of giving you ideas). Are you looking for a second diamond or a sim? Silver or gold? You can spend anywhere from $30 to couple hundred to more for a second ring. I am also a teacher but I teaach middle school science. We do a lot of art in science as well, and my hands are in “stuff” many days. I have a smaller (3/4 ct) solitaire and I wera it daily. Nothing elaborate for things to get stuck in. Mine fits my lifestyle perfectly. You can absolutely find a nice smaller diamond solitaire with decent specs on ebayor The Bistro for 1500 – 1000. On the other hand, Berricle and Tradecraft have some nice looking CZ rings that would also do the job.

I have two sets. The first one is my “original” and the second my “we’re done having kids” set. Both erings are diamond solitaires; the original is a half carat round and the other a 1.2 carat cushion.

Id get a modest little bezel or gypsy set ring as prongs can still get gunky or scratchy.

Is your ring insured? Please say yes. If it is, and something happens to it, you can get a replacement.
If I were you, I’d get a plain band to wear on “casual” days. I wouldn’t get an additional diamond engagement ring… that seems a bit excessive to me.

it is, I just hate having to send it in for repairs, and don’t want to cause any unnecessary damage.
I’m not looking to spend a lot, I figured maybe a few hundred, since I would probably want gold just so that I don’t get a green finger or anything. I’ll probably end up just getting a plain band to wear while I’m working, and wear my fancy set at home or out. I just wasn’t sure if that was a ‘normal’ thing to do, to have two different wedding rings.

If you want a little sparkle, look at getting a channel set half eternity band to wear as a wedding band at work. When I was looking at getting a second one to complete my set, I believe the lady at the jewelery store said it would only run about $800
