I just made my orchid centerpiece. I was originally going to hire a florist to do it, but he was going to charge me $60 and I wasn’t going to even be able to take them home. So I went out and made it. It’s orchids submerged under water in a cylinder vase and a floating candle. It cost me under $25 to make it. It was easy!!
Check out my blog http://www.justabride.com
I just put pics up in the gallery of the flowers. Tell me what you think

That’s beautiful. I love how the orchids are so vibrant and the candles offset it with the glow they give off.

Gorgeous! I wonder if it would work with any other flower? The orchids are perfect, but they might still be much for my budget.

Beautiful! What a great idea.

believe it or not, but you can buy orchids for 1.89 a stem on fiftyflowers.com
Another flower you could use are freesia’s. Those are inexpensive too.

Very pretty! I love orchids!

I was thinking about doing the same, but with calla lillies. I’m not sure how it will look, gotta try it out. Where did you get the big floating candles? Looked everywhere! Can’t find them.
Or, I may use my vases filled with water and lemons then have the candle on top and the calla’s on the OUTSIDE of the vase around the bottom. Like this, sort of.

quickcandles have 3″ round floating candles, and I beliver that candles4less does as well. check save-on-crafts, they have a great site too.

Yes, I got mine from saveoncrafts.com They were 3 for $4. The only thing that stinks is the shipping.

beautiful centerpiece! where did you get your cylinder vases?

Exactly which orchids did you order for 1.89 a stem at fiftyflowers.com?

They look great! But with the flower/petals coming up out of the water and pushing at the candle, any chance of the candle tipping over and being extinguished? Maybe add some of those clear rocks (or beads? I don’t even know what to call them) to the the bottom and stick the stem in there to keep the orchids from floating up…I don’t know if you’ve considered this and opted not to do it because you didn’t like it. Either way the centerpieces are lovely!

Thanks. Yes, I wanted to put clear rocks, but was too lazy to drive to Michael’s. I bought the dendrobium orchids which you can find on fiftyflowers.com and I bought the cylinder vases on saveoncrafts.com, but you can find the smaller one at your local dollar tree. If you go to my website listed above I usually put in detail what I used and where you can find it.
